every yaker will be in this position at one time or another......callous or not, you broke it down into simple terms.

What a shame.  It would be one thing if the operator was a punk kid w/ his daddy's wakeboard boat, but a seasoned veteran with 50 years of boating experience leads me to think this was more of a tragic accident than gross negligence.  Either way, wear those PFD's and be aware of your surroundings.
