Dont know about salmon just saw that the wx was good so thought I'd give it a try. I know my friend Kris has a few good spots for rockfish and such.

The salmon bite is in 120-160 feet (2 - 3 miles out) off the Mad River, and it's moved north over the past two days.  Trinidad is a good bet.  I paddled out of Humboldt Bay today to 4 miles northwest in 157 FOW and had one on (felt like a shaker) and one other strike.  Word is LOTS of shakers now, but there are hogs to be had as well.

I'm up for meeting you guys for a Trinidad run.  Dawn to early afternoon, head west then NW and catch the drift and wind as it picks up on the way back down along the 120' line or a bit deeper - chance for a halibut in there too.

I'm out.  Wifey's not thrilled with my plan to go two mornings in a row.   :smt009  I'll cut the extra driving and go out of the bay again if the forecast holds and I can muster the energy in the AM.  Gotta be home by noon again, so it'll be the 5 hour tour for me.

Good luck if you go to Trinidad, and feel free to PM if you want to hookup for the trip out of Humboldt Bay for salmon trolling.  There's ling and rock opportunities along the jetties too.

Post another note if you decided to do humbay.  That is a shoter drive and I would like to do a short trip too.  Where do you start and what time.

Hey, Mike.  I've been launching right off the rocks at the South Jetty parking lot.  I hope to get on the water by about 6:30 tomorrow.  You in?!

Update:  Matanaska plans to launch at King Salmon around 6AM - wheel across the beach right out front and launch between the two little jetties.  I'll launch at my S. Jetty spot just after 6 and we'll meet up on the water.  We'll head out the Jaws and N by NW trolling chove out and around several miles.  Salmon will be had.   :smt001

Sorry guys, I woke up with a bad headache (probably from the paint sanding i'm doing on my house).   Give an update on how you did and how far you went out.  Have you guys ever gone out after work or is the best time in the AM.  Later.

Today's water wasn't quite as good as yesterday's, and the salmon bite was non-existent for Rob and I.  I had to be home early, so I bailed and picked up a black and a short ling along the jetty.  Talked to Rob later and he got a couple lings.  Hopefully the salmon bite will get good closer to the bay again.  We went out about a mile NW of the Whistle.

Morning bite is where it's at - I've heard of a few PM bites, but mostly all AM.
