At the MBK tournament all I caught was bait, so we decided to eat it  :smt044

We tried this recipe and it tasted GREAT! :smt007

1/2 cup AP flour
1/2 cup Semolina flour
1/4 teaspoon Chinese 5 Spice
Salt and Pepper how you like it
1/2 cup Half and Half (or milk, or Cream-we used the half and half)
1 1/2 cups Manteca
10 Squid, Cleaned and Prepared

Mix the dry ingredients in a ziplock and pour the half and half in a bowl. Heat the Lard until 360 degrees. Shake the prepared squid in the dry bag, dip it in the half and half, then back in the dry bag for another shake. Fry at 360 degrees for 2 minutes-time it and temp it or regret it, and then as Andy says, you win. Salt them a little when they are cooling on the rack if you are into the extra salt like Sara

AWESOME !!!

Never go hungry.  The ocean's bounty is something to be thankful for!

I made frutti di mare last night, but it was all Ranch 99 stuff.  I would kill for what was on your plate!

thx for sharing, even if it's just pictures.   :smt003

Awww man it was so good, The ends of the tentacles were so crisp, and so tender at the meatier bottom.

I went to pick up Quinn (5years old) from his dad after we ate, and I brought him a small dish to have in the car on the way back and he grubbed! Then we get home and he sees the tentacles and is like hmmmm... I'll try it....mmmmmmmmmm THIS IS DELICIOUS!!!!!

BTW it may sound weird but we served the Squid with sauteed corn, zucchini, red onion, cashews and crumbled goat and sheep's cheese mixture, it was almost as good as the squid  :smt003

Wow...that is delicious looking dish!  Thanks for sharing the recipe Al.  Which kind of squid jigs did you use to catch them?
