Bobcat!

There are no wild lynx in CA. Closest wild populations are in the PNW and Rockies. Unless there was an illegal release or escaper.  But that's a bobcat in the picture.  Sorry Mooch!!!     :smt006

I'm not gonna take sides on this as I'm not sure either way but I do know that most bobcats are nocturnal so if you've seen the same one several times it's not normal so the possibility of it being some stupid persona pet is more likely, just saying
Where did he go george

It's actually pretty common to see wild bobcats out and about during the day, especially in Bay Area parks.  They are not as fearful of humans in parks because they aren't shot at, and don't run and hide when they hear, smell and see humans like they do where they get plunked.

There are no wild lynx in California, however the bobcat is of the lynx genus and is common in California. Your closest lynx are up north in Washington/Oregon and here where I live in North Idaho.   :smt002

BAB for sure! (big ass bobcat) I can't imagine a lynx surviving the heat of Ca but that is by far the biggest bobcat I've ever seen. I've had the good fortune to run into a few bobcats before in the foothills of the sierra's and they were much closer to the size of a house cat than that cat looks.

Awesome sighting either way! It's always great to get a good look at a truly wild animal especially if it's a rare animal like a bobcat or a lynx.

Found the pic, was still in the gallery:

Guess I remember it differently  :smt044

Just to clarify....I know bobcats exist in Del Valle (saw utube footage from Alshobieoutback a few years back). Saw one in person while Mountain Biking at the Santa Cruz mountains a while back and it was brown in color and it looked like a small mountain lion at first until I noticed it did not have a tail.

I still say it's a rare Illegal Northern California Lynx....

*If a billfish can be seen inside the kelpbeds of Monterey.....then the possibility is there  :smt002

....and yes, there are no fish in SC  :smt045
