With the new server comes a new version of the photo gallery software. This one is an upgrade to the one we used in the past but still has the login issues. When you click on the gallery you will need to login the the gallery seperately. Use the same user name and password you do for the forum. Also for some reason during the import I became the ower of all the albums, I will try to sort this out during the week.

With this version everyone gets there own album. Once you login you should see a "Your Album" link near the top of the page. Click on it and it will take you to your own album and you can upload photos by clicking on "Add photos" on the right side of the page. Sorry about the ugly looks right now, I hope to get that sortd out soon.

Oh yeah and you can upload MPEG formated videos now so get to it Sean! I have tested this already so it should work.

Enjoy!

Bill,

I was able to load a WMV video to the gallery.   It's just a little clip I happened to have from last spring, nothing too important.

Is there a better way to include this as a post, kind of like using youTube.com or video.google.com?

Thanks Bill.

Don't go crazy looking for it, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Videos are cool.  I would love a good set up for use on my kayak.

Yeah your album is new to this version and everything you uploaded in the past is still on the site just not in your album. Upload new stuff to your new album ;-)

I will try to move the old album stuff over but I have not figured out a good way to do that yet.

Sean,
Maybe they're all on Joel's hard drive.  He seems to archive everyone and everything!!!  :smt005

Haha.   I think I may have figured it out...files were too big.

The other thing I noticed is my digi makes .mov files not .mpegs in the video mode.  Any e-z way to convert them?

Sean,

My camera takes MOV files as well and they are in fact huge.  If your a Mac person, I believe you use whatever movie editing software Mac's come with to modify the size.  If you're a PC person, you'll find that Windows Movie Maker won't open your MOV files.  Here's the trick they don't tell you... MOV files and AVI files are basically the same thing.  Rename your movies from mymovie.mov to mymovie.avi and then try opening/importing them into Windows Movie Maker.  Then edit and save your movie to smaller sized movie file.. I believe they save them as wmv files, but they will upload to the gallery just fine.

Alternatives involve buying some software that will batch convert your movies and shrink them down.  I don't have any opinions on any software in particular but those types of programs do exist.

How do you get rid of the .mov?  I tried renaming it, and it doesn't show the .mov, but when I try and open it in movie maker it always denies it as .avi.mov???? Doh!

Okay, that makes things a bit tricky for you...

not a problem...

You probably have the extensions hidden (the default for windows)

Go the folder where the movies are found...

In the "Tools" menu at the top, click on "Folder Options"...

Go to the "View" tab.  You should see the following check box

"hide extensions for known file types"

uncheck it and then "OK" and you should see the "mov" at the end of your files.

Now you can rename the extension itself from "mov" to "avi"

In the future you should be all set and won't have to do the above again.
