Is there a place on the Island to launch?
My wife and are new to the Kayak Game and I dont want to overwhelm her [read: Piss her off]by crossing the bay on an Outback.
I think starting on the island and paddling around would be doable. There's a certian spot We want to get to near the bridge.

Any thoughts?

I've never done it myself, but It's on my list.  Here are some links to other discussions about launching from TI.

Go to the "Search" tab up top, located in between AOTY and Profile.  Click that, then type in whatever your wondering about in the space provided, thats what I do.  Oh yeah, when you go out to TI, be sure to bring a camera and take lots of pictures and post them up on here when you get back!  Cause we all love pictures!!!

Thanks Shellback...
I'm pretty versed in Forums...had a brain fart about the search.  :smt003

When we make it there, pictures will be taken.

Try that ramp or sandy cove suggested in the other link or see if you can launch from the marina. Don't attempt the over-the-rail launch from the rocks like Turtlehead & I did - that'll definitely piss off your wife!

Be sure to check the tides/currents before you go; the currents rip in the channels - another good way to piss her off is is for a 1.5 mile trip to turn into a 4 or 5 mile trip and land a couple hours later than planned.
Watch for ship traffic and that d@mn Rocket boat thing out of Pier 39. Monitor vessel traffic on CH 14.

Thanks piski.

We're planning on staying close to the shore and working our way around to a beach. Hopefully the current wont give us too much problem.
