Did a little more work on the Malibu during the holiday weekend ; and my mini shopping excursions.

Mounted the Garmin fishfinder and. GPS units; and the Gimbal flush mount rod holders.

Hopefully I will have it done in time for this weekends HMB trip .........

Cool rig(s) bro!
Can't wait for warmer days to come when there will be a fleet of tandems out OTW fishing.
I'm trying to get my 2 passengers pumped up for spring and summer!

You need one more thing added; an electric motor from bassyaks! Then you'll be ready to go out for longfins!!!

WOW, That is in my opinion the sweetest rig ever for the 2xl.  If you dont mind me asking, how much were the total parts? I would love to pimp my ride like that but are speakers water proof? Is this kayak strictly for lakes now due to all the upgrades?  WOW Factor For Sure!!!! I have been trying to figure out a way to put a trollling motor on a 2Xl for bass fishing but havent seen anything on market yet.

Don't really know exact figures (i don't like to keep track...hahaha) but the Garmin FF was about $200, the Fushion Radio was also about $200 and the speakers were about $40; yes they are all waterproof on the exterior, but not waterproof inside the hull. I will take this yak out in conditions where I know I will not tip the boat or take water on constantly over the side. I used ALOT of silicon when attaching mounts to the hull where I cut openings and for the most part, the only place where water can get inside the hull is throught the gaspachi hatch or inbetween the wiring that goes through the hull (but hopefully I used enought silicon to prevent that).

Why would you need to install a trolling motor? that's what the second seat is for :smt044  I do not believe the 2XL is a good platform for bass fishing; if you really are intent on trolling, look into a hobie, that's what I used for trolling and bass fishing...

I like the rear recessed rod holders you added.  I think I'll steal that idea and add some to mine.

I use my Malibu 2XL for taking my son out fishing or crabbing.  It's not the fastest kayak in my quiver, but it's got the most deck space and is stable as a boat.

In the coming year, I plan to get the wife out on the Oregon salt, and using the tandem I think she'll feel more comfortable with me on the same yak for her first time out.

Thanks for the great pimping pics!

For a moment there, when G-Whiz mentioned bass fishing.... The image that popped in my head was him turning up the radio to some hiphop channel to have the bass speakers blow the fish up.
