What a great event. Thanks Craig and Linelle.  Personal thanks to Ryan (Team Chancho) for the spare pan fryers from Friday’s trip and for being part of our National Guard. Naoaki for his company Friday and OTW Saturday. Kanpai !  Racinrob for fishing and OTW troubleshooting of my FF on Sunday. Rich / MontanaN8V for Fridays trip and campfire songs in questionable taste, and Fishin Jay and Theresa for just being good folks

Arrived Thursday, & chilled. Friday on Rich’s trip for one China and an underling. Note to self –On a small party boat in ten foot seas, with big cross chop, try to fish the stern not the bow. Saturday, fished near the bouy for a Ling etc and then on the south side of the cove for some rockies and a big Grass Cod. Sunday under near perfect conditions, I started out fishing with Rich & Shilo. Caught and released too many small blues, so I headed north looking for that big Red. Joined up with RacinRob and watched him catch several legal  Lings. Caught that big Verm I was looking for. Yea !  Monday went south and caught a mixed bag with a couple big Cabs. Headed in early when the wind picked up. Tuesday chilled, played tourist, checked out Van Damme and Russian Gulch camp grounds. Gotta fish Russian Gulch next time. Beautiful place and an easy launch. Driving  home we stopped in Petaluma for dinner. The wife said, doesn’t Craig live here? Maybe we should call him and ask where a good place to eat is.. We didn’t call and we took an exit hoping to run across Mary’s Pizza. The only place I know in Petaluma. We came to an intersection and some crazy person pulled up alongside and started honking his horn at us. It was Craig ! We told him we were looking for a good place to eat. He said, right here, they have great BBQ. I look to my right and there is Lombardi’s BBQ. Ten feet later we turn into Lombardi’s. Excellent BBQ.  Thanks Craig

Stayed at the cottage. Highly recommend it, especially if you have an infant like I do. Only downside was I missed out on some of the good times around the campfires - Next year :smt003
Here are more event pics and some shots from the other side of the river and one of Russian Gulch in case you haven't been there

Many thanks Craig and Linelle for another colossal event. Pam enjoys camping and dinning with the NorCalYakAnglers so I couldn't be more pleased. I know Sonny was thrilled it occurred on his birthday to get him the day off work. Harvested three crab on Thursday and four Friday. On Sat one boated a 25 inch ling really early then nothing more worth keeping. On the way in we pulled the crab traps. Then prior to the feast Pam and me did a honeymoon river cruise (no way a divorce boat), life is good.

darn...hobiedave beat me to the punch... I didnt want to be the latest slacker...but its been a week since week started this endeavor..

Beer N Fish Martin picked me up Thursday morning and we rendevoused with Hobiedave enroute to the Boonville Brewery for our roadtrip kickoff.. met cameron and Ian and a couple other guys there for some pre-festivity celebrations.
The drive goes so much better and faster when amonst friends.. I was getting giddy with excitment..kind of like when my kids get into the parking lot of Disneyland... well this and GS5 are daddy's Disney trip.

Got a lot of fishing and crabbing in over the 3 days.
THursday we made the discovery that crab traps are not allowed in the river...thanks rich for passing on that negative experience with F&g.

Friday morning launched early in the morning with Hobiedave, Martin, HamachiJohn..It was the Hobie navy..when we exited the jaws we were met with pretty nasty mixed swells and general mayhem.  I wanted so bad to troll but decided to ducked into the North side of the cove. picked up a ling that fell short then started to get into some greenlings...

went back for lunch and then decided to go out again  for the daily double...scouted out the south side of the cove this time and by the afternoon the swells were laying down so I decided to map out the area for Saturdays contest..

true to form I remained on the water...each day...even on Saturday... I decided to pass up the weigh in since I never connected with anything of measuring size.  It seemed I was C&r ing the same damn gofer over and over...I couldn't find a Ling that day which really perplexed me...

but the serenity of the area was too alluring for me to call it early... only the prospect of good chow with friends drew me back to the campsite. Friday nite we munched on some crab and dodger dogs, couple with a mean mustard Martin picked up from Boontville brewery..

really enjoyed the comraderie and bonding.. always impressed watching Cameron whip up his creations.. Thanks for bringing all your gear and letting me grill up my sirloins for potluck..

But absent of my afternoon siestas..I was pretty beat each nite and couldn't rally to rage even though the partying sounded fun...

Thanks Craig and Linelle and everyone else who so generously contributed food, drinks and time to make this event such a positive experience for all of us..

Cheers everyone
