I was asked how I rigged' for my salmon.  First day I wasn't able to buy bait so just used plastic.  I caught the first one on a Brads watermelon colored cut plug herring with no flasher, no scent.  I used 30 florocarbon leader and sharpened my hook.  Second fish caught on a watermellon Apex.

Next day I used frozen herring with a "holy roller" set up again on 40 to 48" 30# florocarbon leader.  The holy roller rig uses 2 hooks about 4" apart.  Don't cut the head off the herring like cut plug setup - I used the herring that come 8 in a tray -  no flasher needed - use a 6 to 8 oz banana weight sinker with swivels on both ends - one hook thru the bottom of the mouth up thru the head in front of the eyes - the other hook (on the end of the line) thru under the dorsal then push it back in the same exit hole and up towards the nose along side the back bone with the barbed end sticking straight out the side.

Before you drop it in to troll hold the line about 24" up and slap the bait on the water fairly hard twice (don't ask why this works but it seems to provide the best action)..  Drop it in about 3' so you can see the action and paddle a few strokes at your preferred speed and watch to see the action.

I run at anywher from 40 to 90 pulls depending on where the action is.   Good luck
