Outdoor Pro Shop Oakland has all their Shimano bass rods on clearance.  All Cumara's $100 off.  All Crucial's $80 off.  I picked up a Crucial for myself, just can't resist.  I can't remember the other Shimano models but they're all on sale too.

Clarus and Convergence.

I've heard that Shimano is redesigning all their bass rods and also changing their return policy to something equivalent to what G-Loomis does but don't quote me on this as it was second hand info.

Would any of those be a good saltwater rod? I'd like something lighter than my Ugly Stik Tiger, I feel like I'm just horsing them in with it. Pardon my rookieness. And thank you for the heads up :)

Jeff - Yes some are good for saltwater.  These are mainly bait-casting outfits.  I will be using my Crucial for swallow water RF.
They're just as good for Stripers and local light tackle.

In most cases, you'll find that a good bass rod will work for your typical RF setup.
I have used the same rod, switching out the reel depending on circumstances.
The Clarus rod is a less expensive rod that might fit the bill.

hell yeah. Bagged my WSB last year on a bass rod (Abu Vendetta) did fine (even with a guide missing due to poor epoxy work). I am convinced ppl use WAY to much rod and reel for what we have.

My main light RF fishing rod is Shimano Clarus, it works like a charm in shallow/low current condition... it's a pretty economical rod for its value in my opinion.

Still plenty of rods available. I just picked up a ultralight Clarus rod so my kids can catch a 2 lb trout and feel like it's the biggest fish in the world. Ok, i admit that i'll probably make more use of it.
