Western Sports in San Rafael......run by the famous Alan Tani.
You do the work, he sells you the parts(cheap) you buy some stuff at the shop and EVERYONE goes home HAPPY!!
I have done this for 4seasons straight = worth every dollar I have saved and worth every trophy fish I have caught and released.
Once you go CarbonFiberDrag,,,,you dont go back :smt003

I called Western Sports in San Raphael and spoke to one of their fishing guys.  The seminar begins at 9:00 AM this Saturday and goes on until the reels are finished.  There's no charge except for the parts used. Their address is : 902 3rd Street, San Raphael.   I plan to be there at 9:00.  Thanks Adam for the "heads up".

For those that don't know Alan, (Can't imagin anyone here not) he's a super nice guy!  My experience with him, called him up one day asking for some advice on cleaning up an old reel I just picked up at a flee market,(A Penn level wind of some sorts) he mentioned that I should stop by his place.  Set up a time and arrived.  In about 5min. that crusty reel was like brand new.
He truely is a "Reel god"

I was there at 9:00 when they opened and got started with Alan and his two friends who were assisting.  By 10:00 I had my old TLD-15 completed with one new bearing and a new carbon fiber drag.  I was shown how to strip it all the way down, test and grease the bearings, and with some assistance, how to reassemble it.  I have had this reel for over 20 years and this is the first time anything has been done to it.  Thanks to Alan Tani and crew, it's just like new, in fact better than new with the new drag.
Dustin, Adam and Ben were just getting started when I left.  There will be at least 4 NCKA anglers with "Alan Taniized" reels at Albion next weekend.  Thank you Alan!  An amazing guy!!!

I was there this afternoon, rebuilt one reel and had a great time doing it.
Ended up giving it to Alan and one I thought was hopeless. Alan  starts kids
off on fishing, gives them rod and reel set up to get them started off right.
Pretty obvious that he really enjoys giving to others.
