Im still a newbie to the yak thing, but ive been hiiting this annual ab dive camping trip with a great group of folks
@ van damm state park. Im dont know 'bout the yak-fishing there, tho I got spooled there last year on the beach with 20# test using a hair raiser. Our camp is full- sorry- reserved for the last 5 mnths, but all are welcome to drop by, say "hey", grab a few brews, talk fishing smack and strum a guitar by the fire. Plenty of camping all around.Beach right across the street.  Kids OK - we got a few also. Would love to see a few NCKA folks show.

Fishing there is ok after a short paddle, unfortunately yak fishing iis essentially closed, but yak fishing is open.  So far the swell is forecast to be ugly...be careful!

Hi Ben:

I need to visit my Mom in Ft. Bragg so, I might be up for somemores. I fish on the windward side of the reef by keyhole for Lings and Blacks using
Buzz Bombs Perch #4. The south Island on the lee side of the south point crack has plenty of Abs in <20 Ft. The windward side has some plates but, it's =>30 Ft. deep.
I live in Albion for eight years and, the Mendo Coast has some sneaker waves that, will knock you down and suck you out.
Sean is a local and, he does research for the water control board in Winsor.
                                                                                                               good luck

Thanx for all the advice- id love to hook up a nice ling.
As far as the conditions, ive done this same trip, same weekend for years and have had some glassy smooth water and very ugly water, im not into diving in rough water and am very happy just to watch and cast from shore, so either way it beats pounding nails at work!
Id like to know about that super-extended forcast myself - lol.
cheers! ben
