gentlemen .......(you too Matt :smt002) The world record large mouth bass will be caught at Crystal Springs - no doubt about it  :smt045....rumor has it that people have seen ducklings being swallowed by "something" in this lake  .....now unless some dufus :beat illegally planted pike in this lake.....it's probably a LMB causing the little ducks to disappear  :smt002 ......now if we can only fish this lake  :smt011

Joel I cant even walk my dog on the path that goes near Crystal Springs...We will never be able to fish that reservoir..... :smt002

probably is a muskie of some sort that eats the ducklings. Was common in North Dakota in the spring the big ones would eat ducks or mice...

Mr Matt, I was doing a little research on Spring Lake this morning. More than once it came up that the potential for a word record isn't really there. are you saying the same with the smiley face?
Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.

I personally believe there isnt a fish that could weigh more than 8-10 lbs in that water. Unless its a catfish.

I live 3 minutes from there and paddle it frequently. I have spotted many 2-4 lb bass around the tullies on the west end and have caught a few. The depth just isnt there. There is plenty of foilage in and around but it doesnt appear to be a world record bass fishery. I am not a trophy bass fisherman but from what I have read there needs to be plenty of water for these huge fish to live in. Spring Lake at its deepest is only 12-15 feet.

Plenty of sunfish to catch though. And its got lots of wildlife to see and explore.Ducks, geese, deer, squirrles, muskrats, and a variety of birds. And in the summertime they have great hotdogs at the concession stand there by the swimming pond. and they also sell worms. The annual pass for Sonoma State Parks is the best dollar bet. Bets place to launch is the west boat launch, I launch on the east by where they rent the boats.

At 4-6 pm between May-Sept weekdays I am the guy paddling the green prowler catching the small sunfish.... :smt003
If I caught the record I would laugh....

And the thing about the record bass being worth 10 mill.....If the right person with the right agent caught it with the righ connections maybe....
But me?
Id probbaly get nothing but crap for not releasing a fish that big..I definately wouldnt eat it so why keep it? My wife wouldnt let me put a dead fish on the wall..... :smt011

So to answer the question...yes the smiley face is sarcasm. small fish only in Spring Lake POND.

If the sunfish are there so are the big bass. Best way to make sure--use a lure the size and shape of those sunfish.trow it all over the lake, imitate wounded and fleeing fish.
Those 2and 4lb bass in the tulle's? They were probably chased off the better spots by something bigger. Your waters  are deep enough. Big bass don't get big by being stupid or seen. The bass on my page I caught in at best a 15ft deep pond. and there were much bigger bass. the owner didn't know they were there.

Only problem at Spring Lake is the deepest spots have what looks like christmas trees spewn all over the lake.
My wife once fell off her yak in the middle and got caught in a mess of weeds. There is no deep channell that is free of the weeds so trolling is sorta useless I have found.
I have dropped a worm on a sinker in the middle and got some nice strikes.

Sorry Bill,
Hey Matt the more you tell me about spring lake the more a twenty pound bass or more sounds possible.Chrismas trees all over the place? The covers there. Maybe we should start another thread.

So Matt - are you saying those pictures on that site are fake?

There's definitely 10+ pounders in there, I've seen huge ones slam sunfish on the surface on two different occasions, and I landed a ~7lb'er while fishing for sunfish w/my ultra-lite. The fish towed my kayak around.

Anyway, in a few weeks when the weather/water clears a little we can find out for ourselves. I've only fished for sunfish there, never targetted bass. We were nailin' the bluegills from May through October. Wide open. I know the spots.

I think this year I might slow troll a little bluegill.  :smt003
