Fished the bottom of the outgoing closer to China Camp and further South then the Honey hole, and landed a 55 7/8 and  66 incher.  Both caught on Ghost Shrimp right after the tide slowed down on the outgoing (after the sound of rushing water off the stern stopped).  We were about 2 miles directly off of China Camp. It was a heart breaker to toss back the 66 incher.  The barely legal fish weighed in at 40 lbs.  Sad that a maximum legal 72" fish of aprox. 100lbs is now a maximum 56" fish at only 40 lbs.

Nice fish Madmax!

Those new regs give a 10 inch window?

Hope it makes a big difference and strengthens the fishery.

Yep, 10"!  This WILL help the fishery, and is needed.  I fished with my neighbor today who owns a fish wholesale company in SF and buys caviar from a  white sturgeon farm.  A researcher connected to this egg farm and UCD told him that they've discovered a 2nd biomass of fish that live entirely in the ocean but breed in the delta.  The ocean fish are not reproducing in the delta because of water conditions that aren't ideal (water diversion? pollution?), but remain in the delta for up to 6 weeks waiting for more ideal conditions.  If they don't see the proper conditions, the females absorb the eggs back into their body (protein), and go back out into the ocean.  This is occuring more frequently.  I didn't get any further details other then when Bob (my neighbor) used to drag nets years ago off of Ocean beach for halibut, he used to catch  sturgeon, some were huge.
