I have been hitting mendo regularly out of boredom, but the conditions have really sucked, and the fishing has been equally sucky.

Went out this PM and the water was still super dirty but getting better.  Hit the Bouy Line, and as there has been lately, tons of fish on the meter.  Nolove after 1.5 hours.  Figure I'll get a paddle in and cruise all over looking for something...don't know what, but something!

Decide my setup is too light.  Add weight and hunker down on some fish over by Barn Cove....nada.  :smt011 Thinking that the viz might be too poor for stealthy slow troll, I decide to make the bait give off some vibrations and start trolling fast at about 2.5-3.0 mph.  I get into a few fish and both rods get SLAMMED...woooHooo a double!

I pick up one rod and can see the lines starting to cross.  Do a pass over or two and I'm in good shape.  Then things go south.  I cansee the line on the other rod heading out and to the surface.  Before you know it I have a mess on my hands and its getting worse by the second.  The second line is now heading into the guides of rod 1 if I reel in.  Both fish are pulling like mad...and then the both go slack.... :smt108  rags to riches and back to rags!

Oh well, at least I had some action, which I haven't seen on the lake in some time.  I way-pointed the hookup up, and trolled a bit longer, but no takers.  Got in a good 5 miles though.  Time to start getting ready for baja.

I guess it even happens to the best.

what kind of baja trip are you doing?

I'm not going anywhere for a few years, have to live vicariously.
