Start fishing at 5:30, and hit the beach around 9 for refreshment.  Start big paddle at 10 and the "race at 10:15 or 10:20, so I can be at the nadir with last year's squid.

No water ballons. They could be dangerous and we really dont want all the  latex floating aorund. 1 piece of bait per person. Does that sound fair? No slingshots. Thats just nuts. Tossing bait is one thing. Firing it from a slinshot is another. But hey, all of you can do whatever you want to to Art, he thrives on it. Trying to see if Baitman wants to push back the start time. I still would like it to be at 8am. Get out of bed! :smt006 :smt003

No worries about the sling craig.....they're bag chovies that will thaw out to mush, they'll liquify upon contact if I use the sling.....but if you feel that you will have enough to deal with dodging flame throwers at the beach and the sharks with laser beams attached to their heads then I guess I can leave the sling on the beach   :smt003

I agree on the ballons, I contemplated the ill effects of possibly hitting someone from 20 feet with a 1lb waterballoon and after thinking about it........I didn't really want to have all the broken balloon remnants being gobbled up by birds and fish :smt003.  I've been researching high volume washdown pumps and fire suppressing water cannons....they are, however, cost prohibitive and I'm running low on rigging time so I will likely be donning waterguns (battery operated fullauto waterguns) from the yak.

Dropped $20 in the Mooch paypal account this am........let the games begin :smt001

Another option - You could fish your way out to the red can, start the race at the red can, race to the beach and back to the can and then join us for the rest of the paddle. People who want to can throw anchovies at you as you come and go  :smt003
If it's anything like last year people will probably straggle out to the can over a 30-45 minute period. That way, more people might be able to see you race over a longer period or even join you on the leg out to the can.

Cool idea!!

Up to you two for sure, but I think it would be really cool to integrate the race into the "main" paddle that everybody will be doing instead of having it a seperate/earlier event...would rather not make people have to choose between seeing you guys race and launching with the main group....

Big Jim, this race is the main event.  :smt001

I just found some mussel guts, whole foot long smelts, AND LAST YEAR'S SQUID among other chest freezer delights.
Gonna put that Kokatat Angler paddle suit to the test eh Craig?  :smt044

I'm just kidding of course. I'm not going to throw any bait at Craig because I can't hack the payback.  :smt009

I could bring my AI and give you some sail cover.   :smt002  .. But ... I might also run over a few guys on the way so I better not.   :smt005

Anyone else bringing their AI for some sailing fun later?
