Unfortunately I grew up with and went to school with a lot of punks and petty criminals.....it may not seem like justice at the moment but karma will kick these low lifes in the ass.  They're obviously not the smartest thiefs (how they figured they could sell off something as big and identifiable as a kayak is beyond me), they'll get in bigger trouble with the law sooner or later and find out out that being a thug in Livermore is a little different than being a thug the State Pen.

I would seriously think twice about knocking on their door or confronting them.....chances are more than likely they'll deny everything and tell you to get lost then dispose of the yak.  If they choose to get physical there's a good chance it'll all land on you.  Doesn't look good that you alleged they stole from you then went over there despite being told not to by the police.  I would continue to hound the police dept. (follow the chain of command up to the big wigs) and complain that the detective did not do his job rather than someone stole from you and you know who it was.  The higher ups will pressure the det. to take more action.
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

hey james, if it makes you feel any better, today while my wife was leaving our complex she almost had a head on collision with the fool who lives accross from us. he was speeding into the alley like he was the only ass who pays rent there. he pointed at my wife and started talking sh*t through the window at her. the dude probably sh*t his pants. tonight im gonna go home and hopefully give him a fat lip and a broken finger.

since day one these trailer park folks have been acting like they are the only ones living there and totally disrespecting all the other neighbors, allowing their damn cats to sh*t all over our gardens and turning a communal parking space into their own personal storage space for their garbage that they cant fin in the garage.

i hate inconsiderate people who don't have a problem shi**ing on others and would not even think about treating even their own neighbors in a respectful manner.

i want so bad to walk over and pop the guy in his cakehole and teach him a lesson. if he has sh*t to say he better say it to my face. next time i come home with some fish im gonna stuff the carcases in their trash and stuff all their cat's sh*t that is laying in my garden under their car door handle.

sorry, had to let it out. im gonna talk to this mountain ass b*tch tonight.

you can take people out of the trailer park, but you cant take the trailer park out of the people.

a**hole neighbors can all fall in a hole and burn.... you can throw your neighbors in there as well.

John - I think it's better to get the cops involved - you'll never know but this guy might be packin  :smt066  it's hard to deal with people who have nothing to lose....this is what makes them "brave".

This is why I'm glad I'm not a gun owner (not yet at least) ....I'd turn out be a trigger happy fella  :smt068

good tip mooch, i just contacted the landlord who said they are on the verge of getting a boot in their a-hole and a free "get the f outta here" card.

thats funny you bring up guns as right after i posted i went online and serched for the mossberg bullpup gun i used to own and love in college. man that thing made holes in everything. i once made a nice porthole in an old abandoned car near shaver lake. also put in a custom sunroof that afternoon as well. could have used some smoothing around the edges. that gun i purchased from a friend in college for 95.00 and now they are selling for a lot more. well, win some, lose some...

would have been nice to go fishin today, im jealous of those folks who went dabbing in Monterey!

There's no gurantee that the kayak is still in their appt anymore, they may have sold it or dropped it off at a friends place (they'd be pretty cautious about bringing it back around where you might see it).  They may even have a storage locker somewhere.

If the police have no luck, I'd give it a few months then assasinate their car(s).  Low-lifes like that make plenty of enemies, so if you serve the revenge cold they won't know who on the list of people they've harmed came back for them.

If the police do go into their appt, suggest they bring a dog.  They'll likely find some other stuff to nail them for.

Mooch:
Glocks are alright, but you pay a premium for their lightness.  That's good if you're carrying it around all day (like a policeman or security guard) but if it's a home defense gun you don't need that feature.  You can get a bulgarian makarov for about 1/3 the price and it'll be more accurate too (light guns are VERY hard to shoot accurately).  The makarov has a bobbed hammer and a double action trigger, which make it a very slick pocket gun too.  Another cheap handgun I like is the CZ-52.  That bugger has more penetrating power than the 357 mag, can penetrate body armor, and is as loud as a deer rifle.  Mine was a hair under $100.  They're cheap because they shoot 7.62x25, which is an oddball caliber, but you can get magsafe ammo for it (so you don't kill your neighbors) and you can order new or surplus ammo at reasonable prices compared to comparable performing calibers.

I thought about a hand gun, but I'd probably do a Barny Fife and shoot my big toe off.

For home security, it's a German Shepard and a 12ga, I'm a bad shot...  :cowboy_cool:

mooch, I've had a glock. waste of money! dangerous too,
that durn trigger safety is twitchy!

craigh has it right with the GSD and shotgun.

even a little dog will give you the warning which is the
most important thing. You can't take that gun to baja,
but you can bring the dog.

here's me, my two boys, and my dog, lost in baja

if you get to the shooting part, you are really in trouble!

James, go get your kayak, we'll bail you out dude!  :smt002.

I think patience is the best option right now I have been makeing daily phone calls to the officer in charge and he is finally starting to take action he did a background check on the 2 thugs and when the witness at sunrise gets back from vacation he will act further I hope. I believe the yak is still in the apt as the blinds are still shut tight and it looks like they nailed sheets behind the blinds.  Before my yak was stolen they always seemed to have the windows and door open all the time leting the apt air out so to speak the mother has a drug problem and they like to air out their stuff.
On the firearm topic I currently own a m1911a1 in 45acp. it will not be used unless these thugs try to enter my apt even then it will be a shot to the lower part of the leg or calf dont want to cause any real damage these turds can sue me for later I spent 4 year in my beloved Marine Corps and I know how to handle myself if it came to confontational I feel sorry for these kids I have some frustration to take out on them but I dont want it to come to that
I will keep everyone informed and keep your eye out

Don't even think about going the gun route. I refuse to own a handgun because it makes people do STUPID things. It will make you seem like you are invincible, and that can lead to you spending the rest of your life behind bars. In hind sight, I bet if you asked most people in jail for shooting someone they would rather have pussed out and be free than playing macho man and being where they are now.
I know how much we LOVE our kayaks; but it's just a kayak. It can and will be replaced if necessary.
