I'm starting the process of planning a baja trip and wanted to get any referals people might be willing to share. The east cape sounds good. I would like to fish from a panga and do some kayak fishing.  This is my first post and I'm new to kayak fishing (just ordered my fishing kayak), but I have lots of kayaking experience. Thanks in advance

Try Rancho Leonero or Punta Colorada. Both offer guided/unguided kayak fishing and pangas.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Stop in mulege, get groceries and camp at santispac beach. Nice protected launch on the bahia concepcion. Don't forget the snorkeling gear. dive for delicious chocolates and picantes clams. Just look for the bubbles coming out of the sand in 6-8ft of water.

Thanks for the offer for the October trip, but I can't make it.  I think I'm heading to the east cape to a hotel called rancho leonero. They offer fully rigged kayaks. I plan on going next june.

Has anybody from this site ever been?

Just wanted to get an idea of what it's like.

Thanks,
Loren

Lots of guys from the site have done the Ranch.  You can find a bunch of reports by using the search function.  Or just wait a bit, I'm sure they'll chime in.

I'm not sure where the east cape is in baja.Fishing depends on when you go and what kind of fish you are targeting. We go to Bahia De Los Angeles,It's a little north of and east of Guerero Negro, on the sea of Cortez. What time of year are you going? June is awesome for yellowtail but it gets HOT! :smt011 October is the best weather.  :smt004 and great fishing as well.

The east cape is just north of La paz where the pacific meets the sea of cortez. We plan on going sometime in june and I'm not targeting any specific species, just hoping there will be plenty to catch. My one and only kayak fishing experience was in bahia de los angeles and I've been thinking about it ever since.  Just ordered a kayak and hopefully when it comes I can get some much needed help.

Thanks,

Loren

The east cape is just SOUTH of La Paz.   :smt002

Allen, assuming you have a spot...I have a dumb question. Do you bring fish back? Some hamachi would go a long way convicing the wife.

We do bring fish back.  There is capability to freeze about 50# of fish on the boat.  And we can keep fresh fish on ice for blast freezing back in town.

October is NOT yellowtail time.  But I'm assuming dorado, wahoo, and yellowfin would be adequate replacements!
