I'm wrecked. What a great time.  :smt005 :smt044

Big congrats to ALL the fishermen and women who went out there in tough, cold conditions and brought back MANY amazing fish!

Terry...a truly deserved victory...so stoked for you!!!!

Thank you to everybody for all the great times and memories.

A-Hulls...love you guys!!! Would not be the same without ALL of you!!!!

Zilla...it was great to meet you. Thanks for all the amazing food, conversation and hooking me up with the Ling Hole and monster swim bait.

Ravensblack...was nice getting to chat with you and look forward to hanging out with you again soon.

One of my highlights...making baitnbeer throw up while ab diving hungover by telling him not to think of a greasy fried egg served up in a dirty ashtray!!   :smt003 :smt005 :smt044 :smt044

Feel very fortunate to have you all as my friends.

AbKing....you should be really proud of putting on such a great event and for the very generous donation to a great cause...I'm humbled and hope my little speech went OK....

Here is a little vid...looks best in 720p.

Sincerely,

Jim

OK..I am too excited just writing this :smt003 ..but first I would like to thanks Eric for another epic hookup..Sonny for being such a good companion on the carpool..Loose Screws (once your a loose screws always a loose screws)  :smt007 John for letting me use his knockers hit beat the shit of the Hali..Craig for sharing the secret hammer color. :smt002 BNB, SARAH/AL  and ZILLA for the feast the to all those made this event memory of a life time THANK YOU!! I am sorry I am bad at names the Coffee and Cinamon breakfast was awesome thanks..now let get to the fishing..
Day 1 Event day....Man is it just me or was it cold? I only fish for 2 hrs caught a dozens underlings and tons of blacks blues cabbies greenling I caught 2 legal Lingcod till one of them decided to abandon my kayak :smt013 I forgot my clip and stringer..that place has more fish you can ever catch in a lifetime non-stop action until it got cold...my hands are so numb you can served a tits wont even able to feel them :smt044 :smt044 :smt044

Day 2 Memory of a Lifetime....I was planning to take some more fish home (despite cooler if full "fish heads and some hali carcass from the cleaning station) I did get much bite on the twin tail on the day of the event. So I decided to switch to big hammer 6" swimbaits 2 oz jig head I was catching nice size black, cabbie and 15 underlings 4 are 23 and 3/4"  :smt003 I said wow this swimbait really works despite being almost shred to pieces I still use it front of the light house between 50-60 ft of water I decided to move to shallower but I let my bait on the water (bottom 2 crank up) as I paddled a bit further I noticed my pole bent..Pulled it thought I was snag..when I crank 2 feet of line thats when my reel goes ZZZZZZZZZTTTTTTTTTTT..I thought it was a big ling...until it runs so hard my was close on smoking (john heard too) felt a big head shake..I said OMG it might be a big hali everytime I take 20yards it will take forty my line was getting really low I can almost see the base of my line..after 25 grueling minute the saw a glimpse white diamond shape..I got nervous..I tried to net it and there it goes again..it took another 4 times I netted it hey it wont fit easily..finally I won..I almost lost my paddle (thanks john for recovering it) but I lost my ROD and REEL set on the photo ops in the water for big Hammer (I really hope the will send me some swimbait) I lost my set up just to get a good picture in the water..Again THANKS To all that been part of my trip..I will let the others tell the story about the balut :smt003

Great to fish with my good buddies MattS and Fisheducator. :smt003
Great to share a camp site with cool people, you know who you are. :smt004
Great to be back on the salt again catching fish :smt001
Great to learn that I am not equiped to handle the cold and wet conditions we had Sun. :smt002
Great to catch a personal best ling, even though it didn't compare to some of the monsters I saw at the check in. :smt003
Great to be part of the NCKA brotherhood! :smt003

Here are some pics/vids from Sat. salmon trolling, the bait stealin blacks were released to live until at least Sun.

On tourney day Sun. I was too damn cold OTW to take pics of my fish but got some shots of others catches as well as my brother Slayer MattS nice clip of fish.

Had a blast at GS5,

what??

Cant wait to see this stringer!!

Eric, did you fish the tackle you made?

I did with some...Just the lead head's. Which worked. Pretty sure my powder paint had zero impact! Jed was using some, I forgot to ask him if they worked.

Darius' is almost 1.5 feet shorter(i think someone said 30"). 48"/39lb was the winner!

I'm not trying to downplay terry's Hali but look at the picture I just post, Darius' Hali is around 45" long (not 30" for sure).  Here is the picture of Terry's Hali & Darius' Hali.

Oh shoot my bad. As I was leaving someone said 30inch...Maybe they 30lbs! Sorry D! I guess you won't need to collect heads at the cleaning station with that beast!

Despite the cold wind and the pouring rain, GS5 was awesome!  I met a lot of good people, and got to see some others that I haven't seen in a while.  I'd like to thank Chadrock for helping me out with lending me gear I forgot and showing me the ropes of rockfishing.  Very cool of you man.  Because of his help I was able to help get the HangOver team on the board!  I was super stoked about that.  I'd also like to thank Eric and the rest of the event organizers for putting on such an awesome event, I'm already looking forward to next year...and planning to spend more time hunting Halibut!  Holy crap, what a catch!  I only took a few pics cause it is hard to take a picture when you have mild Hypothermia.  Speaking of Hypothermia, let me tell you about its effects on the human body...simply put, your body goes into rescue mode and starts sending blood from your extremities to your major organs which is why when you are extremely cold your hands and feet seem to work in slow motion.  So taking pictures was tough!  Standing up after hitting the beach was tough, and the thought of standing in the rain cleaning fish after freezing my ass off on the ocean seemed ridiculous to me so all of my fish were C&R except one 28" ling that I know someone out there has a picture of.  At GS5, C&R fish were awarded a bonus inch, so my laziness actually helped out for once!  I love it!

The food was awesome, thank you everyone for being so generous.  I would like to say that I sacked up and ate Balut as well as raw Abalone Gonad.  Both werent as bad as one would expect- flavor wise.  Texture wise, kinda gnarley, but I was able to get it down (wait till you see the Fishmaster1 video).  Overall it was a great experience with great company.  I'm looking forward to getting back to the Cove sometime this summer.  Like I said earlier, my pictures suck, but its better than nothing.  Thanks for making GS5 such a wonderful experience everyone!

Anyone out there got a pic of my Ling that I kept?  I caught about 3 legal lings, sent back about 6 undersize ones, no pics due to freezing cold!  Man I had a good time!  Thanks so much everyone!

The partying was off the hook and Zilla rocked the BBQ station once again. I bailed early after bailing my leaky as tent out. The rain started Saturday night and I woke up feezing my ass off in wet sleeping bags and puddles of water in the tent. It had a bath tub floor and it worked great for keeping the damn water in. Also my EZ UP collapsed from the rain puddling on it :smt013. I made the call to pack my soaking frozen wet ass home and not even fish on Sunday. Thanks to BigFoot for the helping me drain my tent out to pack up. No dry clothes or sleeping bags ended my trip. 630 miles and didn't wet a line but it was great to see the buddies and get a quick dive in with EWB. On another positive note, the new girlfriend was a total trooper about the trip. She was soaked and cold too but offered to sit in the truck if I still wanted to fish.
