I looked out into my backyard this AM and saw the snow coming down and turkeys on the wood pile.  It didn't look at ALL like spring.  Very depressing.  :smt012

Decided to screw it all and fish Mendo despite any common sense.  Got to the lake and all of the hills in the background were dusted with snow.  The good news was the turbidity was better than last time, despite recent heavy rains.  As I launched, snow was landing on my yak...brrr.  People wer looking at me like I was coo-coo.

Found LOTS of fish on the "bouy line"  The fish were either shallow or deep, nobody in between.  Trolled the top for a while with zero luck.  Decide to try the boys on the bottom.  Dropped two lines to the bottom and controlled my drift over a nice big school.   Had the bait spook several times, but no love.  I think the water is still too dirty for effective feeding.

Rained awhile, then more snow.  Wasn't too bad and then it got windy.  The wind was bone chilling. Wuss'd out after about 2.5 hours.

No fish, but I am cured of cabin fever for a day or two.

Seems like a good day to stay home and eat turkey with nice hot gravy  :smt007.  Turkey season starts in about 3 weeks.

I bet as soon as the season opens those turkeys will be nowhere to be found.  :smt002 They seem to know when it's ok to shoot at 'em.
Nice job fishing in the snow. I personally like the solitude of it. I will be at Tahoe tomorrow and I am seriously thinking about taking my kayak and fishing in the storm. I will have to see what the wind has in store. Big wind and no way. Just a lot of snow and I am all over it.

Tote-I was inspired by your earlier post to give it a go.  Although I froze my butt off it was super peaceful, and i really enjoyed the stupidity of it all.  The eagles were out again, making it even better.

As far as the turkeys go, they are here all year, and the dirty rats eat a lot of my strawberries!  They may, however, be missing a big tom or two this summer. :smt003

I agree.  Sean... call me if you want to thin'em out.  I can use a bow if you don't want to spook your neighbors. :smt002
