Hey Everyone!

Just thought i'd share our experience down here in Mexico. My fiance Kim and I attended a wedding in Isla Mujeres and now we're in Cancun... of course i needed to check out the fishing and get some lines wet, especially after seeing all the posts on the rockfish openers. The wedding was awesome, the water is beautiful and the weather is fantastic! We signed up for a trip through the hotel for $125 and headed to puerto maroma (between cancun and playa del carmen). On the water by 8:30 and trolled around for the next 4 hours. It was pretty slow at first, then we got a tip from one of the other boats in the fleet that live bait was the ticket... i'll let the pics tell the rest of the story.

you're right sailfish, it was even more magnificent in person, such a beautiful fish!

jedmo, it took off when we got the bite, and the drag was set pretty loose, so about 20 minutes total but it seemed like we were reeling forever! kimmie got tired so i took over...

that bait dont look too live to me...

great price for the boat PP. I was down there in Feb and was getting quotes like $300++..
I was just looking for a simple panga near Puerto Sam which is just north of Cancun....which a smaller fishing community...

congrats.
