Looks like a good minus tide for next Sunday 5/8/11.  Thinking about getting some fresh Horse Neck Clams to make Clam Chowder at the GS5.  Anyone interested?

Havn't clammed in many years. we used 15 inch pvc pipe about 2 1/2 feet long.Shoved that down in the sand and dug inside the tube. Is there a better way today. I heard of a clam gun but don't have any idea of what it looks like. Do you have to pay at dillons in order to get to the clam beds and are they open that early in the morning.

I have extra tubes.  Just bring a shovel and something to scoop the sand/mud with.

We used the tube and shovel too.  There's a dayuse fee to I think it's still $8 that you pay at the gate and they usually open the gate around 6am.

I think the gate is always open you just have to undo the chain.

You can always get in, even before they open.  I have done it a couple of times and paid on my way out.  It's kind of an honor system.

FYI, when we were there several weeks ago, they were talking about implementing a launch fee for kayaks.  Thanks to Danny, they waived the fee for us all, but it was to go into effect for everyone in May.....

Yah I have never been charged to get in but I have heard people say they have been charged something like $4. When you get to the gate they have a envelope on the gate. Just drop cash and if you need change they will give it to you on your way out. I used to have to do that for crabbing.

4 bucks!  What year was you there?  :smt003  It's $8 the last time I was there.

I am talking about the launch fee not the gate fee. The gate fee is $8 but I have heard of people paying $3 or $4 for their kayaks to launch.

I've heard about the launch fee for kayak too but they didn't charge us the last time we're there.
