Same here!  Just as I took home Sara's boat, damned thing flew off.  Was wondering if you guys had your yaks right side up or upside down?  Mine was down, and I think that had something to do with it.  It's re-enforced with a tighter strap and hasn't come off since.

Mine was deck up, bow forward, strapped onto my yakima rack. I never even heard the hatch come off, just got home and it was gone (along with my $40 float bag), only the little piece of tuna cord dangling. For all I know someone stole it while it was on my truck but I doubt it. It was snorting windy around King City when I drove through there.

I got the new hatch, and I ordered some padeyes and stainless nuts n'bolts to go with it. I had the straps and buckles and sewed up two straps ala old school Ocean Kayak. Now my concern is the little rubber 8" round hatches.............its always sumthin'

I agree, fishim nailed it.
