Like I said on the radio, I verified a 10.5" Rainbow...  This must be photoshopped!   :smt002  Nice fish!

Was a rare day for me at O'neill.  No, not because I got skunked  :smt010

Unsual in that there was very little wind, and snow was visible on the mountains...

Had more fun at Carl's Jr. unfortunately, but it was good to loosen up some paddling muscles.

great pics you guys!

Dave, great photo, I remember looking at the snow and thinking I should have brought
the camera on the yak, so thanks for posting that.

The same went with the metal jigs for rockfish = I've caught more by adding a single hook with a bucktail on it.

Joel - How did you customize the jigs technically? I'd like to do that by myself, but I come out short on attaching bucktails to hooks, unless I've bought a bunch of bucktailed hooks. By the way, I have been looking for bucktailed hooks, but did not find any in stores. Any tips are welcome.

Good times. Wish I would have paid more attention to the fishing reports. Next time.
The LM seem to be making a come back. The biggest one that I know of was 14lbs to come out of the bay.
If your looking for bigger linesides try the upper San Luis res. Mooch kicked butt with that red headed rattle trap the time I was there. who ever he mooched it from-should take it back. I'm going to be headed there later this month Mooch you interested?
Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.

Rickey, Just post it on the hook-up section and I'll be there  :smt023 I'm hoping you can bring your Hobie Adventure - I'd really like to demo that kayak  :smt002

Eric, since you are my fellow-Asian-Brother :kungfu, I will share my tips with you :smt002 The bucktail hooks can be bought at the Coast Side # 2 tackle shop in Pacifica: 1604 Francisco Blvd - Pacifica, CA 94044 - Phone # 650.359.9790 or you can tie them yourself. Just buy the siwash -gamakatsu hooks (I know they sell 'em at Fisherman's Warehouse) - those hooks come with open eyes so you can pinch them down (with pliers) when your ready to replace the old factory treble hooks form the jigs. But before you do that, tie the hooks with bucktails or tinsel. For tips on how to do that you can ask Bill or Josh (Pro-spark). Hope this helps!

oh...FYI: Make sure you rinse those hooks after a trip on the ocean - they rust big time  :smt011

eric,  coastside #2 is probably best, but some other options:

you can get treble hooks with bucktail and tinsel on the right wall @ fisherman's warehouse.
If you want single bucktail hooks they often have them for sale on ebay. An expensive way
to get them would be to buy rockcod shrimp fly jigs or the hooks by themselves @ FW.

you can also buy bucktail hair from fisherman's warehouse and tie it on yourself.

Another option is to buy those tiny 'hoochies' or squid type lures,
cut off the tops and pop them over your trebles.
maybe not as good as bucktail, I don't know.

likewise if you buy siwash hooks, you could possibly use a small white
power grub instead of the bucktail.

have fun,

j

Bucktail $5
Hooks $5
vice $50 for one strong enough  that you can tie buck tail on.
You boys should takesome basic tying  lessons.
You options will increase .
