Actually Kathy said " No way" and then hit me up for another 20 bucks for the raffle.

Hi all,
I would like to fish this event but I am from the central valley and the ocean is new to me so can someone please tell me where it is? Not the ocean but Elk. I would like to check out the area.

Here's a google map link to the location. Zoom out to see it relative to things you know.

Here's a link for directions from Valley Springs.

Should take you about 5 hrs.

Me too... I already requested the time off. Actually, I'm taking the week before and after off. Plan to freely cruise the coast for two weeks. The wife asked me if she should take time off too...I said nope...she said ok. She's a keeper.

Is it a 3 day tourney? or what (newbie thing?)  I need to let my parole officer know if I leave the area.  They get mad when I leave my ankle bracelet at home (joking) actually my parole office is my wife.  She thinks I want to go to Reno (Mustang).

The only tourney day is Saturday but most people make a long weekend out of it since it is a bit of a long haul for most of us. You have an easier drive  :smt002

Is there camping in the area of the tournament? If so, are reservations required?. I'm looking at a looooong drive, but this looks like fun.

Good Fishing, Ed
So I'm packing my bags for the Misty Mountains, where the spirits go...........

Kayote, camping is onsite and included with your signup fee.

After I get the HMB derby out of the way I will get the Elk signup going, so be ready!

What is the camping situation? I seem to recall last year's was camping at a community center grounds or something.
My wife and kids will probably prefer an actual campsite with trails, etc. Are we right in the area of Van Damme/Russian Gulch?

I believe Van Damme is about 15 miles north of Elk.

Here's a google map... Elk is the icon and if you scroll up you'll see Van Damme and then Russian Gulch.
