Doug, this is still one of the coolest solutions/inventions ever! I think we should test it on the Moss salmon soon.

Sincoast's recent post reminded me that I still have an old project that I need to finish off.  After my first attempt, I decided I didn't like the aesthetics of having a big old gearmotor hanging off the reel.  So I got an old Japanese electric reel off Ebay and fiddled with it.  I had some problems getting the electronics to run smoothly and since my fishing up at Lake Almanor wasn't requiring a downrigger, and since Salmon season was dead, I let the project die for awhile.  But I may have to get back to it soon.

I also reworked the remote control transmitter unit.  The initial one stuck too far off the paddle shaft and I wanted it to be as low profile as possible--aesthetics.  Plus I had to rework the battery compartment design so it was fully water proof.

Thought a few who viewed version 1 ( http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,17749.msg321002.html#msg321002), might like to see the new model.
