Thanks for the vid/report, Jim. I'm going out there today and tomorrow to try my luck. Either PG or SWS depending on conditions. I sure hope the swells cooperate on at least one side of the peninsula!

Nice shooting!  The Lings were hiding in "secret" spots becaue they've heard that you're coming  :smt003  Thanks for the report and video Jim.

Awsom vid. I love the death from above shot, and just how long does it take you to train the Cabbys to land infront of your spear like that?  :smt005 Gota love a bad swell day there.  Look foward to seeing some more, and eventualy getting out there with my boys.

Big Jim,
Nice job as always.  For my version of Big Jim's very successful day.  I was just in over my head.  With the swell as big as it was, i was just out of my league.  The places that were calm enough to dive were just out of my depth range, and places that were inside my range, were just to surgy to be in any way productive.  I used the day to practice relaxing and staying calm while diving, and also just working on going deeper.  Its a rough guess but i would say I "touched" 30 ft maybe a bit more, but who knows.  Im going to take a rope out with knots every five ft next outing just to get a gauge of where im at.  Weather was nice and hot, neptune just didnt want me taking any fish and Im ok with that.  Big Jim was in other words "All that is MAN" yet again.  Nice job on the dive and video as well.

I had a great time with you as well bro...before, during and after the dive!!
 :smt006
Yeah...it may look flat in the vid but swell was too big for the spots we wanted to go...forced out deeper out of my comfort zone (IMO it seemed like top of reef was at 25-30 and sides/holes dropped down to 40+) but still managed to bring home dinner!!
 :smt004
Worked my chosen area for a few hours looking hard for a Ling that I KNEW was there....no joy....then....fuzz shows up, says howdy, says he will take a look around (in the exact same gd area I've been scouring!!!!) and five minutes later I look over and he has a fat hawg of a Ling in his hand!!!

Chilled out at the beach for awhile afterwards and cooked up some blues, greenlings and sausages and met Nelson Kwok on his way out...great to meet you bro and hope you slayed 'em!!!
 :smt004
Semi-bummed I came up Ling-less...nah, not really...dove deeper, more times, and with more success than I ever have had at those depths and took my best vid footage to date and that is plenty good enough for me!!
 :smt003
Those Lings will feel my wrath again eventually!!   :smt002
 :smt006
Sincerely,

Jim
