Tried for crappie on Friday afternoon/evening from the Capell boat launch. Big goose egg. Worked up the creek arm on the edges of the flooded timber with jigs/minnows. Did catch a chunky smallmouth on a green Rapala X-Rap up the arm where the inflowing current slows down. Also caught a decent spotted bass (same green X-Rap) heading out toward the main lake, just past the no wake buoys on the left (just around the point).

Talked to a salmon troller at the dock. He was catching kings at 65 feet depth on small dodgers w/small silver flutter spoons. He said to work the main lake channel to the north (up lake) from Capell.

I spent part of the afternoon fishing with Dr. Habanero. Nice meeting you and thanks for the cold PBR's! It sure was a beautiful day at the Berry. The crappies have got to be CLOSE to coming into those fishy/flooded creek arms. The lake looks great with all the extra water this year. There is lots of floating wood and stuff still in the back coves and near shore which makes casting a little tricky though.

Thanks Sailfish,

I guess even a non-fish report is better than nothing! Hope the salmon kayakers are doing well today.

I might go back to Berry tomorrow.

Thanks for the report MW. BTW how's the water clarity at Capell? See you on the
water soon.

Jedmo,

The water clarity was "ok" as far as the Capell launch area goes. Kind of that creamy white/green color. Maybe a foot of clarity farther up the arm and closer to 1.5 feet at the launch. It was definitely clearer (light stain) heading past the buoys toward the main lake. I couldn't tell for sure, but the fast water inflow up at the far end of the arm looked totally cleared by Friday.

Sounded like lots of big carp thrashing around back in those submerged trees/bushes. Amazing how far up the arm you can kayak now.

Major turkey gobbling contest in the woods just across the cove from the launch when I left in near darkness.
