I'm not sure if I should even be saying anything, but he called me and told me, wanted to thank us and wish us well,

" Keep fishing, Have fun and keep taking Vets like him out as he will not be able to join us anymore.... "

SPC L... is a Very Special Man... Hit by 4 IEDs, last one left him with TBI ( Traumatic Brain Injury ) and a fight with cancer...

He came to us almost on direct orders and did not want to come, he went out with Sailfish and even thought the bite was tough, They tangled into a Giant Striper that lodged itself into a sunken tree...

Not to beaten and to do what ever it takes to win, SPC L... dove into the water to go Hand to Fin Combat...

well the Striper did escape, But SPC L... came away from the experience wanting more, wanting to fish with us, get his own kayak and get out there. Sailfish and I have had contact with him over the months and things looked like this guy was going to be on the water with us soon..

I had not talked to him for few months, but just recently found him a good deal on a kayak and gave him a call...

That is when I got the news that his Brain cancer has returned and it does not look good. He will be flying out to Walter Reed to resume Tx....  his last words to me seemed to be just that and hard to sit with as he hung up the phone.

I told him we are here and would do anything to help...

well that is all,  just thought ya all should know whoever had the pleasure of getting to know SPC L...

Frank...  I think I'm ready for WCPTR....

I'm sorry to hear his brain cancer has came back!  Is there a phone number that I can contact him?

Sad to hear I will add him to my prayers. I'm glad he had the opportunity to spend the day with all of you and had a great experience

Spc L,
Again, Thank You for your service and for giving to secure our freedoms. I am impressed and very moved by you. Anyone who is willing to jump in for a Brother Kayakers Fish has my attention. You have given me another reason to hold pride in my service. You are who I strive to be.
Sailfish, I still can see your amazement at, " He just jumped in".  As you and Spec. L were walking back to base camp. Him soaking wet smiling and you in awe. Thanks for being there to guide. Your a big asset to NCKA.
I think Don, that were both ready for a visit to WCPR. Wish you and the family a fabulous time in France and enjoy the escargot!
Your Friend Frank

Thanks for passing that along Don. Lets do more for these guys and gals is all I can think. Memories are all we are allowed to take with us when we move on. If we can help them make big smiles, lets do more.

all I can add is from me to SPC L.  -

fight that bitch!  fight it every damn day!  and, there is some great fishing on the Patomac...I need some real pics of real native smallmouth, shad and stripers (they grow to 80+lbs in there!)

From one drain bamaged fisherman to another - when I feel like shit and want to quit and everyone sucks balls...I sleep and chill 'till I can fish some more then fish and fish and fish and fish and fish...cause you never know when you wont be able to do it again.

Less Mental than before, Still savage AF tho <3

I've found David's phone number and spoke to him this morning.  He's waiting to be accepted at Walter Reed in Washington D.C.   He said he has a 50/50 chance so please pray for him.

Sad new indeed. We'll all be pulling for him.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll just drag you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

Danglin,

I appreciate you putting that news in. You did right.
Prayed for him before replying to this post and will continue to do so.
Both my parents were brain tumor/cancer casualties.

It would be nice if you can keep us posted of developments.

Thanks.

Danny
