Hi Martin,

Thanks for the information.  Do you think you can point out on this map where the meeting point/launch area for Sunday is, and also the area we will be clamming?  I need to re-assure the old non-kayakers its gonna be an easy trip!

We launch about an inch to the right of the pier and will be camped just a little to the left of where we launch.  You can see some dark areas a little further to the right, almost straight out from the launch which are the beginning of the clam beds.  As the tide goes out, there will be more beds exposed a little further out but not far.  You can kind of see the end of the road about an inch to the right of the pier.  That's where we will camp and launch.  We will probably park on the left side, opposite the sea wall.

Sonny,  can you illustrate this on the map and post it in case my directions aren't clear enough?

Martin

One more thing, the EGO nets will be available for picking-up at the AOTY award day (this coming Saturday) and at this  Clamming hook-up the next day (Sunday).  If you can't make it to either one event above and would like someone else who attend these events pick it up for you please PM me.

gather wood or pallets..anything to sustain a decent campfire..
I will also bring a propane grill/ fryer.
plus I will bring a tarp..but we will need probably need more in case we need some cover.

food wise I will bring seasoned rice, chicken for grilling and perhaps cole slaw..

I'm gonna pre-make the chowder Saturday with all of the ingredients but the clams and the cream which can be added later.  I'l also bring some brews and a nice bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc to have with the chowder.  Sue baked brownies for me to bring along for dessert.  We probably should bring a few decks of cards in case the weather gets in the way of outdoor activities.  I don't have one, but some sort of canopy would be a good idea too.  Hopefully it won"t rain like it did this morning!  A fresh water rain rinse for the yaks would be OK on the way home.

Are some of you guys still going to do this?  The weather for tonight and tomorrow looks pretty gnarly! I  spoke with Lawson's, and they said the weather was really rough, even inside the bay and will get worse with the wind increasing overnight. At this point I'm leaning towards not going unless you guys know something I don't about the area.

Hobiedave, Daviator, Sunny and I are gonna go for it anyway.  Maybe the forecasters will be wrong and it will be sunny and calm.  If not, we can still dig clams.

The chowder is made (minus clams and cream), the yak is loaded, and the car is packed.  Nothing left to do but pack the ice chest in the morning.  I plan to leave Danville at 5:00, arriving at Lawson's around 7:00.  See you guys there.

wont blame anyone for bailing....however 930 kron newscaster said the worse wind will be until 2-3 am... by sunrise the system should pass thru..
sporatic showers so for those of us still going...lets hope that we can still work our way out there.

Hobiedave is on the scene right now and says the winds are rocking he camper..
We will observe safety and common sense... If it aint gonna happen we can do it another day as the clams will still be there....however....we will make the call from the waters edge.

lets hope this system does indeed blow thru quickly...
