Great replies - thanks a ton for taking the time to help me out.  I did see something hit the water surface as I went by over near the middle of the lake, kind of made me jump actually, and was a good size splash, no ducks/birds around.  I am using a J-7 or J-9 Rap in Firetiger, I even watched Ray's videos.  I also tried a gold spotted kastmaster, firetiger kastmaster, and larger silver/green kastmaster a blue and silver spoon, and the power worm/egg drifting.  I tried deeper areas, and I tried shallows.

Does Ray surf these boards?  I would love to ask him a question or two.  Before I joined here I have actually seen him out n his boat, the little American flag gives it away.

Sun burn is healing up well, and the itch to get back to my fish and yak is retuning :)  Also this might sound like a stupid/silly question.  Can a hooking a larger fish make your yak unstable - by larger I mean stocked lake size - at most 12lbs?

Thanks again.

Look at the White Sea Bass, Sturgeon and Lingcod catches.  12 lbs should be no problem, lakes are usually calmer than the ocean.  I suggest you get comfortable with your kayaks stability.  While OTW sit saddle, rock it a little bit, crawl to the bow hatch and open and close it.
Practice self rescue, tip the kayak over and get back in.  You'd be surprised how a small items on your PFD can get caught and make things interesting.  Take a basic kayaking class if you haven't yet.

Your on an Outback right?  Its a very stable boat and I doubt that you can flip it over by any lake fish.  BUT if you are doing something like reaching behind you, or leaning too far over the side, then with your decreased center of gravity, anything can happen.
