I arrived on Friday, with about 30 minutes of shootable light left. It was windy but clear and cold. Off in the distance I could see a big dark cloud bank. As I was unlocking my camera the cloud bank hit me full force, snow as coming down in sheets at a 45 degree angle. I was wishing for my Optio, not realizing I had just taken a camera off the tree! Ten minutes later and back at my truck it was clear again.
The weekend was clear, with no rain, pretty good conditions though the frozen ground in the mornings was very noisy.
I managed to find an arrow I lost last weekend on a missed shot. I was standing there thinking that it had to be right there and, voila!, there's a red/white fletch poking through the grass.
The white w/ black spots looks like the one I missed.
It was good to hang with Ben and Chad in camp.
Friday night was very cold, and as I snuggled into my down bag I wondered if I had bitten off more cold weather than I could chew. Not to worry, my down bag with a woolen blanket on top kept me toasty.
Saturday morning/day was oh-so cold! I wondered how little critters like hummingbirds keep from freezing.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Burrrrr!  Add ice to the already slippery and steep hillside and that's some tough hunting Juan. If you don't get another pig soon I am going to give up because if YOU  can't .....I don't stand a chance. Keep the pig camera pictures coming...they give us hope.

You hog hunters should look up "Hogs gone Wild" on the discovery channel. It's a mini-series / documentary on the problem hogs all over the U.S.  :smt045 Very interesting show!

I was in the kitchen the other night baking a smoked wild ham shoulder so I turned on the tv to the "hunt and kill" channel and that show was on. Moments later I got a call from another hunter about the show and then moments later my phone rang with another hunter buddy clue'n me in as well. I called another buddy and let him know.  Great show but as usual too much drama (neighbors types). How about that Great Dane pig dog!
