You guys are cold weather Studs.  I thought about going out today, but looked at the temps, and decided to sleep in. :cold

While I am loading the BigYak onto my ice covered rig, I get a text from the FishMaster1: "Are we crazy or Stupid?".

My answer: "Both. On my way once I scrape all the ice off of my windows!"
 :smt003 :smt005 :smt044 :smt044

We had a plan to launch the yaks and go explore some new (for us) spots. But swell was too big for the areas we wanted to hit up, so went to Plan B and a much more protected area.

Paddled out to a spot that we haven't been to before and were excited to find great viz, big structure, and plenty of suspended fish!!  :smt003

Got 9 nice RockFish on my new hi-tech homemade stringer, and then went looking for a cabbie.  :smt004

No cabbie today, but found a THICK 27 inch MonkeyFace!! Took me two shots to get him out of his hole, and let out a big yell of joy when I brought him up to the surface!!  :smt001

Had a GREAT time diving with Andy (for a change we actually dove together for awhile) and it was really cool to point out fish to each other and watch each other dive, hunt and shoot!!  :smt004

Andy showed me a new way to clean the eel, and he used the pliers to skin it...thanks bro!!

Had some families over for 5 RockFish and the fried MFPB head and to watch the Oscars.

Tomorrow will have another family over to eat the last 4 RF and the MFPB steaks and to watch the premiere of the new novela La Reina Del Sur!!   :smt003

Cooking and eating pics to come later....too tired to upload right now.  :smt002 :smt005 :smt044

Good times with a good friend....doesn't get much better!!
 :smt006
Sincerely,

Jim

Another cool detail from the morning...once we finally shiver our way into the wetsuits and get the gear down to the beach, Andy hands me a flask...

At first I say no, cuz I have been trying hard not to drink before diving, but after second thought (and some choice words from my buddy) I take a little taste...

Lovely warm whiskey warms my throat and lifts my cold spirits...I turn to Andy and say "Jameson right?"...He looks at me with a mixture of awe and disgust and says "Dude you got a problem if you can tell what kinda whiskey it is from such a little taste!!"

Well he is right...I have all KINDS of problems, but what I didn't tell him was that the last time I was at his house it was obvious people had been up late partying and on the kitchen counter I spotted an empty bottle of Jameson, so I figured it was a good bet that if he had it on his counter, it would be in his flask!!
