Quarry Lakes-Horseshoe Lake. 2-11 & 2-12-06

Sat...Got on the water at 10:30am...went to the Bikini Club, again.  Nice weather all day.  Fish until 4pm.  Got a 13" & 15", but they were 5" wide.  Lot bigger trout than last week plant.  They planted 750 lbs from Shasta.  Got them on Green powerbait on the bottom in front of the swim area. 3 guys in a rubber raft got their limit with white powerbait.

Sun...Got on the water at 7am...It was more wind then on Sat.  But, still real nice.  Fished same area with Green powerbait.  Did not have time to find the White.  Got 3 trout--12", 13 1\2" & 18"...all were 5" wide.  A guy in a float tube got his limit and the guys from shore did good, too.  Stayed until 4pm.

I have noticed that after 3pm the trout here seem to leave the deep water.  They travel up the narrows and go back to the far side of this lake.  The back is like 20 to 30ft.  Near the swim area it can get to 70-90ft.  I was fishing in 20-30ft of water.  Marking a lot of fish.  But, since the plant was 1 to 2 days before.  It takes a few days before these fish start really biting.

Also, had a friend in a Yak at San Luis (Main Lake) on Sunday.  He got 1 (18") striper trolling.  He was using the Yak to take his friend from shore...line out farther then the guy could cast out.  The guy from shore got zero.

Ken kickfish
