:smt013 hate when that happens! Great tip... now let's see if it works. I wondr if it works on big salt water reels... not just small bass reels.?

YES it works. I just did my own field test a few minutes ago on my Daiwa Saltist 20 with 30 lb braid.  Takes getting use to, but the snags were undone while holding the spool down and turning the handle.  Just as the video said keep turning till it goes free.

Great new technique to learn.

Looks like alot of work.  Backlash knots are the result of crossed up loops that occur as the spool spins the line off, they're just coming off underneath each other/wrong side/etc.  If you just loosely pick at the knot to loosen it up you're achieving the same effect as reeling while holding the knot then disengaging again....not rocket science.

Non-levelwind, saltwater reels are pain if the line is crosswrapped to start with.  When people backlash my loaners I usually just cut the gear off and give em another rod.....much easier.
