Thanks for all the info Ricci!  Since I have never fished for Kokes before the knowledge you dropped should help me have a slight clue of what to do (hopefully) come April 2nd.  I am really interested in getting into some kings.  If you have the time could you drop some info on set ups and lures for kings and Berry.  Thanks again, that was an awesome post.

All of them.

And everything I read said to stock up on the corn when you find it because some years it's really hard to come by.  Either way, on sale at Safeway in midtown for $1.98 - seemed like a no-brainer.

I'm going to borrow your system and empty some old powerbait jars, mix up some scents for the day and then vacuum seal and freeze the rest.

I'm on a hunt for some dodgers this week...

well the corn can be hard to find, that's true.  just FYI, for anyone out there looking for white shoepeg corn, they do generally carry it in fisherman's warehouse.  i picked up a can last week in the sac/folsom rd store.

one can is usually enough for me for the whole year since i only fish kokes maybe 5 times a year, probably less even this year.

Wow, did you just go out and purchase all 4 rods?  That's pure madness if so!

Thanks for starting this thread.  Kok and King fishing from lakes is a tricky thing to research.

Hey, so I was thinking.  If Koks eat plankton then wouldn't dropping a nicely made (possibly hand tied) sabiki rig do the trick?  Per say you dropped it right into a school.  Thanks for the intel.

Good luck and tight lines.

I think too many hooks, but if that were adjusted it might be fun.

The one time I fished for Kokes, and actually caught some, they bit everything I put in the water. BMB does well with radical glow tubes which strike me as being in the same universe (small, food like) as your sabiki idea.

Yeah, I've been meaning to pick a couple up for a while, they're useful for other trout fishing I do in spring and I'm bringing my 14 year old son to the slam, so I'm shopping for 2.  I got 2 trigger and 2 spinning.

i can't recall anyone catching a sockeye in the ocean using a sabiki, but i might be wrong.  If you find a school of them, drop a jig down and they may hit it out of aggression.  but probably not hunger.  I have heard of people catching kokes on rolled shad, so go figure.

I, along with several others, tried jigging for them with a sabiki at Yakhopper's Bass Lake event a couple years back.  I was using a homemade sabiki by BMB and literally had it right in the think of HUGE schools to no avail.  That said, I don't think it was the sabiki's fault because hardly anybody caught fish that day.  I did hook a nice size crappie on it though.
