Stop HR875/S425 US Congress' attempt to Illegalize Organic Farming!

How long are we going to let them sell us down the river.

The politicians know better!  :smt005 Why should us dumb fisherman be allowed to grow and eat our own produce and meat? :smt009 Without the FDA and the USDA we would all be living in caves eating our young  :smt003  :smt005

This has got the petrochemical interest written all over it. The Gov. just now allowed GMO alfalfa to be grown. So if you care at all about what you put in your body you should spend some time on a backyard organic garden. But it does take away from fishing.

It's all about this, and Big Ag, which are closely tied. Just shows how far they've got the "right" people in their deep pockets. Lobbying, basically, but I think it goes even further than that.

did someone say Monsanto?

I agree that this maybe an overblown scare tactic to get people to rally, it is far less insidious then the hidden agenda of the lobbyist to start a snowball effect that would increasingly strangle the little producer. Slippery slope deal.

There is a lot misinformation out there. I once watched a piece by John Stossel (Give Me a Break) who complained that organic farming was dangerous because it used manure for fertilizer. You really have to wonder about people sometimes.

That said, I don't think further misinformation is helpful. I thought the Democratic Underground gave it fair treatment, pointed out it's shortcomings and quoted the OCA as not supporting it and why.

I appreciate your bringing this up, it's an important subject I'll pay more attention to as it moves along.
