not part of the com either but if a guy in a canoe is not gonna count then well a hobie shouldnt count... :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

They should also disqualify yaks that sink. It says human powered, not tidal powered.  :smt044

The committee should handle this just like the courts do: Refuse to respond to the question until there is a complaint, then rule on the complaint based on the current rules. The current rules seem clear enough that there hasn't been a problem yet. So, why not wait until somebody submits a catch from something other than a kayak, then see if anybody files a complaint with the rules committee before we get wrapped around the axel on a hypothetical case.

Otherwise, you could get caught up playing "what if" with the rules for the rest of your life. Just my .02  :smt006

But my initial reaction when I read this post was the same as Craig's  :smt044
In the meantime, you guys need to go fishing. You have no excuse! I have a foot of snow on the ground and the lake shores are iced over!

Speaking for myself, and in all seriousness it brought up a good question:  What is a kayak?

Kinda has me stumped.  We all know what a kayak is, but try to put it into words.

Best I can come up with is "a small boat propelled by double-bladed paddle".

If the question is w/in the realm of reasonable, it deserves an answer. It's not right to ignore it and then say "no" after he posts a fish.

Are you implying that is some sort of an excuse not to fish?   :smt009

Kayaks are like pornography, you know one when you see it  :smt007

A kayak is a canoe with spaces designed into the hull that are intended to remain dry/water tight.

Make with reeds, reeds are hollow (intended to be water tight)... so sure.  :smt001

Really. Isn't that essentially the difference between most human powered vessels and yaks? We could get nit-picky about tube floats, and such, I guess, but essentially that's it. If you capsize a canoe it sinks. If you capsize that guy's boat-made-of-reeds it floats. A couple big air spaces, thousands of little ones, I don't see a functional difference. It goes along with the "be able to roll" idea, I guess, w/o having to be able to roll.   :smt044
