Finally came up on some fins with the help of my lovely daughter here..

So ive never worn the full foot flips...

I think I may only have room in the foot pocket for a 3mm sock, which should be fine, just wondering how many MM's others are wearing with the full foot?

Any suggestions on a good warm 3mm sock?

Thanks!

I too just got A pair and was wondering the same thing. The only thing I dont think I will like is after the dive I usually stop by the side beach and do some shell hunting, wondering how much my feet will hurt on the rocks. And your daughter is very lovely! Tell Rachael she did A great job! :smt006

nice fins, and I see you didn't have to go far to find a beautiful model.

I have yazbeck 3mm socks and they have been warm in the water, and no problems out of the water.
These are the only pair i've owned, so don't have any comparisons though.  sorry.

thanks guys..

yeah i was wondering the same thing, will they hold up walking on the side beaches?

Are the open cell socks better then the traditional?

Argos booties from neptonics.com or you can get them at wallins in San Carlos. 3 years and I'm still on the same pair.  I beat them up pretty good too, never babied them.

From what I've read yazbecks were not made to be walked around in.

my bad...neptonicsystems   :smt001

You will beat the heck out of them while shorediving bro, I wouldn't trust open cell booties unless I was purely boat diving.  How snug are the fins?

And Andy....all soft sole booties suck to walk over rocks in, there's just no way around it.  Surf booties might hold up better to your demands, more sole protection than a dive sock and felxible enough to work in a full foot fin......or get an oversized pair of crocs to wear over the booties on your glass hunting ventures.

I agree with agarcia... I also bought mine 3 years ago and walk around with them to/from the dive site and never had a problem with them, they're still good as new.

For long walks or walking around on rocks I would wear some sandals or something that allow me to wear the socks under them.

i have a  3mm o'neill surf boot, its pretty sllek with a thin rubber layer on the bottom, toe and heel, they are VERY warm, BUIT, they just barely dont fit in my fins, I have that foot pocket pretty well filled. I sampled a 3mm open cell sock at the store, and they fit in the pocket perfect, but as you mentioned, that sock was wasted from people renting it...

So are you guys using the 3mm too?

Yeah, I think the ones I have only come in 3MM.  I've never had a problem with my feet being cold.

They're orange on the inside and conform to the shape of your foot...bought them at Wallins.

Mine are 3 or 4, can't remember.  The fin shouldn't be real snug.  To see how much room you're really working with you need to put the fin on, sit down and raise your leg so its parallel to the floor, then point your toes away from you. Thats gonna be the position your fins are generally at during diving and how you really wanna guage the fit. If they're snug while you're standing they're gonna be real tight when you're actually diving, possibly causing cramping but definitely uncomfortable.

I think a 3 mil surf bootie is gonna take up more space than a dive bootie, you should be cool with a 3 or 2 dive bootie.

The Argos are 4mm.   See if you can bring your fins to Wallins and ask if you can try the socks on with your fins.

Thanks for your input, the ones i sampled were torn inside on the heel, looked like it was from putting them on. Yup, didnt even think of the parking lot. Ordered a pair of the above mentioned.

Yup, i should have tried them on. Hoping everything fits.
