Favor: Anyone in the south bay (or milpitas/fremont/palo alto) area that could deliver a rod and reel for me to Fishwrapper/Ross. If so, I can try and get it to you tomorrow.

I think I'm going to go looking for silver instead of gold this weekend. The rivers are in perfect shape right now. No telling how long that'll last. Good luck boyz.

Who knew?    This many people would be/are interested in this!   I know the event will be completly successful, and FUN!  I haven't been to NCKA event that wasn't.  Do you know if there are any restrictions on using  water pumps & HI-bankers at that spot?  I know panning and sluicing is ok, not sure on the dredging today.  Eventually, I'd like to go on one of these outtings, and I do have a 1.5" gas water pump, and 125' of 1.5" hose.(25' sections)  (I got it to fill my rain water harvesting tank from my creek during the summer months for watering the yard)

Suction dredging (also called vacuum dredging) is defined as the use of a suction system to remove and return material at the bottom of a stream, river, or lake for the extraction of minerals.

Q: Why is suction dredging now illegal in California?A: SB 670 (Wiggins) was enacted on August 6, placing a temporary prohibition on the use of vacuum or suction dredge equipment for instream mining in any California river, stream or lake, regardless of whether the operator has an existing permit issued by the Department of Fish and Game (DFG).

Q: Is high banking also prohibited?A. There are several different methods of high banking. If you propose to use a suction dredge for high banking, pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 5653(d), you must be more than 100 yards away from the active channel. Otherwise, high banking is not prohibited by SB 670. However, activities which subtantially modify the bed, bank or channel of a river or stream are subject to the Notification requirements of Fish and Game Code section 1602. High banking may meet this criteria and you are advised to contact the appropiate DFG regional office for more information.

Came down with some kind of bug on Friday.  Stayed home today to rest, but looking iffy for tomorrow.  My daughter is crushed, especially since I've been using this event as a carrot for her all week.  I'll wake up and see how I feel and decide then.  I might still just drive her and let her check it out.

Hey Rich, I'll bring up some mayo ketsup mustard for the dogs and burgers. Just got back from the racetrack and didn't have time to stop for buns. I'll bring some brownies or something too. I'll see what else I can find.

We are about 4 stones throw from forni road.
I could walk there within two minutes from my house.
