My wife and kids bought me the Hobie Fish Finder Package for Christmas -- (yay!)   :smt007 -- anybody ever install one in the little hobie, the Mirage Sport?  'cause that's the boat I have.   I will have to research how to do this.  I've never had a ff, ever.

-- btw -- coming up to Eureka from SoCal this coming week.  Not sure if I will bring the kayak.  Convince me there will be something to do in Humboldt Bay from my kayak, besides freeze my **** off.
Detonate the reality bomb.

I have to ask (along with others who have brought this up before)...why in the world would anyone goop the transducer to the hull? Buy two of the foam pads...glue and stack the pads on top of each other and place a weight on it to dry. Make sure you don't get any goop on the hull inside the pad opening and you are done. The two pads will keep the transducer in place even when the kayak is upside down on the truck. Just add a bit of water to the "well" each time you launch ....simple. This way you can remove the transducer when not in use or remove for repair or replacement.

I have not had good luck gooping my transducers down.  I loose a lot of signal strength.  I am using the waterbath on my new Hobie and went with a scupper mount on my prowler.

The goop always seems to get airbubbles.  I heard Lexol works pretty good though.
