GS5 - Sunday, May 15th - REGISTRATION IS OPEN ON PAGE 21 and closes 4/15/11

I was Team SharkBait last year, but was already an A-Hull at heart!
 
During this past year they have adopted me and I wouldn't change that for the world....yes, the partying is extreme at times ( ) but we know how to bring home fish AND how to cook and share and take care of each other as well!!

 

Just spent the afternoon in Salinas loading all my fish slaying and partying supplies into the Morales Man Van...ran into a bunch of Andy's family and friends that I have met off and on at partys over the past year....good folks just stopping by to wish their boy good luck on his big trip up North!!

Get yourself on a team by tournament time.  The requirement is a team of at least two yakkers, and each team will have a waterproof VHF.

A quick ?  Do I understand that the opening rockfish day is Sunday, so it will be salmon & finfish only on Saturday?

I'm stoked that you're coming up, but, sorry, Roughster, registration closed back in April.  For fairness to all those who pre-registered we're not allowing any late entries.  The entire group will definitely welcome you though - including the potlucks.  Lots of people will be getting in the water for diving too.  I have a limited number of t-shirts too, so hit me up when we meet and maybe I can set you up with that at least.   

As for the opener, you're right that Friday and Saturday we'll just be targeting salmon (and other finfish - don't tell anyone, but some may be going hunting for perch!!  ).  The opener is when things really get good, because all of those pesky rockfish and lings that have been bycatch so often lately will now be part of the madness.

So here is my situation. Yesterday, 5/10 I get a phone call saying I have to work mandatory overtime for today, 5/11. Cool, I love overtime pay as much as the next guy, but here is where shit gets weird. I work 48hrs at a time and my regular shift is Thursday and Friday. So that means I'm working Wednesday through Friday, getting off work at 0800 Saturday morning at and getting my ass up to Shelter Cove!
So after I got the Mando overtime call on Tuesday I had to rush and throw all my camping and fishing gear together in a hurry. I've already come to realize that I forgot my BBQ and Spices/Seasonings however I did manage to remember my camp stove. I'll be stopping in Willits for food to throw in my cooler. I just want to give you guys a heads up that I'm going to need to use someone's BBQ, thank you all in advance for helpin a brother out! I'm way excited to get to meet all you guys who I've followed online for a longtime now and get to fish with you! I've got my yak on my truck and the truck bed is filled with all my camping gear. Shitty thing is, is that it's all loaded up and ready to go, but I cant touch it till Saturday! Torture! I hope there is WiFi or something at the cove, cause I'll be hurting for a report from all you lucky bastards that get to get up there Thursday and Friday! Good luck with the Salmon fella's, and drive safe on your way up. I predict I'll be arriving at the cove at around 2 on Saturday. I'll be ready to pull some abs as soon as I get there, so if anyone wants to Ab dive with me Saturday afternoon, holler! Oh! And just to let you guys know, this will be my first time Rockfishing! Im stoked! Dont worry my friends, I've taken the yak out on the ocean many times, just not for rockfish though. I know there isn't any real point to this post aside from me telling you guys what I've realized I've already forgot and that I'm down to Ab dive, but I guess I just need to vent my excitement! I've got my professional face on here at work, but as soon as the clock strikes 0800 Saturday morning I'll be leaving Mr. Professional in Concord and turn into the Partying-fishing-diving dude known as Jeff/Shellback. I'm stoked to get to meet and get to hang with so many NCKA'ers, catching fish and poppin abs is a bonus! See ya at the cove Saturday at about 2!
