One vote for the Vitog Nomad, probably 70's vintage. 14', 23" beam. Bought used for $125.00, I always say I'd have paid a thousand had I known how much fun it was going to be! Has carried many fish, abalone, and one pschopathic waterdude... :ball

Or how about a poll on what you think your NEXT kayak will be?

How do I like the Adventure?

I haven't owned it long enough to have an informed opinion. I've watched the Outbacks excel in quiet water - lakes and bays. That hands-free aspect is perfect for any kind of bass fishing. I waited until Hobie came out with more of a traditional design, a boat I could move around on, sit sideways or straddle, and comfortably paddle. Once I've had it out in the ocean a bunch of times - and that means surf launches - I'll post my impressions.

So with that in mind, here is the fleet tasking:

OK P15 - all around performer. Prefered open water boat.

T120 - smaller boat for smaller water and paddlers

MII - tandem for taking out people who just want to ride along. Also, a high capacity yak for heavy-duty tasks when I don't plan on paddling far.

Adventure - bays and lakes and ?

Thanks for the insight PAL!
I'm trying to build a flotilla myself. I once owned and paddled the following:
Cobra Explorer = perfect for small lakes
Cobra Navigator = just a minor upgrade from the explorer
Cobra Tourer = my long distance fishing kayak - mainly for salmon trips (I bought this boat second hand and unfortunately, it had leaky hatches)
Cobra F&D = for crabbing

I would have kept the F&D (a perfect short distance work horse) and the Tourer (very light and fast) but at the time I did not have enough storage for it.
I now paddle a P15 for every type of fishing that  I do and I also have a "loaner" kayak = a Scupper Pro. Looking to get a Cobra Marauder sometime in the future for big surf days (love the easy access hatch for gear storage) I just wish they made 15 and 16 footers.

Besides my Prowler, I also have two Ocean Kayak Dawn Trackers but they were not on the list. And that does not surprise me. I hear that there were not many of them made. To bad, they are quick, light little boats. And you can convert them into a Sit-inside within minutes.

Mooch, you asked if I have pictures of the Dawn Trakkers. Been busy and stuff but here they are. The red one has the topper on it and the blue one doesn't.

Hey Evil Twin, good ideal. I posted some of mine. It looks like the prowler 15 is in the lead.
I paddled prowler for a year are so then  went back to the Tarpon 160 when they put the tank well in.
What I missed more than anything was that extra two feet the tarpon 160 has.
I've paddled both yaks on the same waters and one thing I've learned is--when it comes to the bigger waters,
I prefer 16 ft of yak, whatever brand. There are certain waters such as rivers where I still prefer a canoe.
I'll be picking up a Hobie Adventure Saturday at CC&K in Oakland. I'll post a review on my sight.
Why Do I paddle a kayak instead of a float tube or a pontoon boat? I like seeing where I'm going not where I've been!
Paddle safe and wrap'em tight.

I'm going out tomorrow in the Hobie Adventure. I'm really excited, if it paddles at least as good as the Tarpon 160 even just close I see a lot of possibilities with it.
