The first shot was at 1:45 PM. I tracked it for almost 3 hours and jumped it. I spined it just before dark and that's all she wrote. 90 lbs dressed, dry sow. First shot was just behind the lungs and caused guts to protrude, and not leaving much of a blood trail.
It left behind just enough blood though.
This happened Sunday, the opener weekend at Lk Sonoma.
While tracking it I ran into 2 other pigs at very close range. I almost had one of them too, but didn't get a clear shot through some brush.
I'm sorry about the pic, too gory.
If you can avoid it, don't gut a pig by flashlight. Not fun.
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Nice Juan yesterday when I was trolling the shoreline at Mendo just south of Vinegar some Trees were talking to me "Hey do you know Juan S he said he fishes with you and is going out today. I guess he was wakilng the trail but I couldn't see him.

Hard critters to kill sometimes, any shot that ends in a harvest is a good one. Congrats.

Was up there real early this morning for a couple of nice "hikes" and saw a ton of "sign" and just a few hunters. The fog was so thick you could hardly see fifty feet. Came across one spot that I could smell the freshly dug up earth before I actually saw the diggings. Great day for a hike especially if you are half goat.
