I've read and watched many reviews and vids.... but I need to be more solid on a final decision.  If not, anyone know a place to go yak-crabbing around that area? thanks in advace.

I don't know what your kayaking background is like but launching along Pacifica Beach is ill advised. Especially when you have crab traps stacked on your kayak. Your best bet is finding the best conditions and then launch your kayak on the South side of Linda Mar Beach and paddle North. It's quite a paddle so make sure you've got the juice to make it back. I've done it once trolling for stripers - and the conditions were flat.

You can also launch from Rockaway Beach WHEN it's flat but that doesn't happen often.

If you're new to this sport, I would suggest taking a kayaking safety class before heading out.

Good luck and paddle safe!

Ditto.
Launching next to the pier will kick your ass...my brother and I tried it in 2004 on a FLAT day and it was bad.
May the fish be mighty and the seas be meek...

If you do get there and find it launchable stay away from the pier itself

If you get within a couple of hundred yards the pier rats get worked up and start casting sinkers your way

sorry for the late reply guys, yeah.. i was looking at the pics on some of the reviews of the place and I've only seen a couple out of the many that had "flat water" pics, so I might end up cancelling altogether.  Any other places to go crabbing around the area.. north or south about an hour distance? would be greatly appreciated since I don't really know the area.  Oh and thanks for moving my post, mooch.
