NWKA only allows fish that you can keep no fish out of C&R Waters.
Please only Vote if you are entered or are going to for 2011.

Sorry, I don't get it? As I read it, the rules only say that the catch has to be legal, not that you be able to keep it.

At NWKA, if you can't legally keep the fish, we don't count it for AOTY.  Even if you caught it from a body of water that was legally open for C&R fishing.

So for example; the salmon in the Eel system would be off limits as to posting for points. Is that correct? No wild steelhead caught on the Russian would count either I would assume. Is that correct? Any trout caught in sections of certain rivers in Cal that are C+R would not be allowed. Right?

Correct ... for NWKA AOTY rules.

I'm sure others may be wondering this as well.......what would be the reason for doing so?

Undue stress on a fish that is going to be released.

Let's take it a step further...how about only fish that are caught and released can be entered. How about only fish that are caught on weekends only to make it fair for everyone. Let's make it so I you did not post a hookup giving everyone an opportunity to be there it doesn't count.   How about only artificial bait only/ c&r/ weekend fish only.  :smt002

btw I voted yes...only fish you can keep should be counted. :

I voted Yes, I support the spirit of this proposal.

We already do this for some species (e.g., only count sturgeon legal to harvest within the slot limit for AOTY, legal stripers, lmbs, etc).  Extending this to C&R species or runs is fine by me.

However, I don't support any of the other well-intentioned rules and restrictions proposed for consideration by my good buddy Allen.   :smt002    :smt003
