Baja East Cape Hotel Punta Colorada (10-18 to 10-21)

Went with Jim Sammons and Sean White to Baja last week.  We had a great time. Bait was verrrrrry hard to find.  We did manage some fish, some yak, some while trolling from one spot to the next.  Chef Jeff of Colorado got a real nice wahoo from the boat.  My dad caught a decent durado from the boat.  I caught this small rooster from the boat.  On the yak I caught a small durado, small rooster, skip jack and a ton of needles.  My dad, Chef Jeff and Teresa and myself fished with Sean.  Sean was a great guide.  I will be heading up to Ukiah soon.  The seas were a little rough a couple of times but not enough to stop us.  Ally was on Jim's boat and caught a nice tuna.  I never saw it but it was the best sashimi of my life!  The people were great and the drinks were strong.

Sean's guiding at Punta Colorado now?

This was Sean's first time at Punta Colorada.  I could have been more pleased with his knowledge and help.  I'm happy Jim selected him.  It was so great.  Start saving pennies now, it was the trip of a lifetime even with poor fishing conditions.  It was dad's first time in a yak, now he is hooked!  Mark with ocean kayak was even down there for a bit.  He was on the plane right behind us, but not figure it out until we landed.  Mark, Barlow, Jim and Sean went out Monday after marlin and were skunked.  Everybody on the trip was cool and had a great attitude.   Food was decent, beds were rock solid but after 3 strong margaritas and a few beers, we just passed out until 530 the next morning.  I need to go again! And another thing Sean reminded me way too much of the character from the 90's sitcom "just shoot me" he went by the name of slow Donny.  One of his tag lines was chicken pot, chicken pot, chicken pot pie.  If you remember the show and know Sean, you may find this very, very funny.

BTW - Nice rooster! That's my devil fish and even a small guy like that would have been good enough! SO beautiful.

One of the worst feelings was seeing multiple roosters dickin' with my bait, then hearing my drag scream and having it be a friggin' needlefish that stole the bait right out from under the rooster! Nevertheless, my trip to The Ranch with Sean was one of the best experiences of my life.

I miss Hydrospider.
