Thought I would share my three-day kayak in camping trip at lake Englebright with you all. For those of you that have never been there, Englebright is a boat-in camping only lake its about 9 miles long and narrow. I went with a friend of mine Mike. The first day we paddled to the end of the lake checking out the camping spots and ended up paddling back five miles to a very nice spot, witch was only about 4.5 miles from the launch ramp. We ended up padding about 12 miles that day, the longest paddle I have ever done especially in a fully loaded yak, and I was wiped. The next morning we where up early and on the water trolling for Trout, Mike ended up catching a nice Brown, a couple of rainbows and some small Bass, it was about the same for me, we keep two Trout for dinner that night, Trout on a open fire just don’t get any batter than that. The only mishap we had was some mad dog ground squirrels witch ate a hole in Mikes tent and craped all over every thing he had a mess to clean-up that night, I bet he won't leave snacks in his tent again :smt044. The boat traffic was not to bad but next year might try mid October might be a bit cooler and less people. This place might be a nice place for a fish-in-chill will think about that next year. All in all we had a great time can't wate till next time, check out the pic.

wilderneshunter I use to camp there in the late 90s and have not been back since, I thought it would be a good place to go for my first kayak boat in trip and yes you do have some great lakes up in the Grass Valley area but I am not to familiar with them. Englebright sure has changed since the last time I was there.

...there's just nothing better than loading up the kayak and finding a remote spot to camp!

Thanks for the report Pat! We missed you at the Fish-n-chill at Del Valle!

What an awesome review. My parents and I have been up there looking for camping spots but havent been up as far as you have. They are older and dont think they could paddle 4.5 miles so I was thinking of renting  a small fisfhing boat to tote the kayaks and gear and then just kayak at the upper end away from the power boats. Great pics too
