How often do I swing?  I take a swing whenever I feel something that is a potential bite.  I don't swing at every little thing, but if I feel something that could be a bite, I take a swing.  Probably took a dozen or more (I didn't count) empty swings today.   Does that answer the question?

Like Chuck, I opted for the Airport because of the debris reports. My yak is still on the truck so damn the reports, I am headed to Buck's in the morning. I won't have many times I can get on the water during the sturgeon bite so I have to make the best of it.

Right on, Erik!  :wav: :wav:

Figures that you'd hook up like twenty minutes after we left!

I was wore out from pumping the shrimp, lack of sleep, and good paddle out to the spot. I still had a good time, though, and oddly enough the paddle back in seemed easier than the paddle out.

Now I know where the launch and fishing hole are for next time!

Awesome conditions out there, the worst we saw all day was still relatively nice for S.P. and the debris (there was a lot of it at times) only fouled one of my casts.

My anchor set-up worked, and I was able to get a few ideas for the next trip, so it was a great experience indeed.

I missed two very small striper or kingfish-like taps for the day.

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

Great pics of the day Sean and Joel.  I had a great time with good company, learned a lot and got lucky it didn't rain since I didn't have my gear.  I can't wait to go back and try it again, hopefully with the same great weather!
Erik, you are a great sturgeon fisherman, I hope to learn more from you.

Sean you can email me the mpeg and I will put it online for you. I *think* you might be able to put it in the gallery but I have not tried that yet.

well I really planned on fishing Airport but was a little worried about the bait thing, seems like it's getting hard to get the shrimp over here in Oakland, most bait shops don't have it and the ones that do run out real quick. So I went to Bucks really thinking I was going to show some of the guys the fastest, easyest way back to the Airport. (I live in Oakland). The water conditions where not anything like as bad as they made them out to be. So I got to meet some of the guys and do some fishing. I now know what the sturgeon bite feels like, which is just the smallest little nibble. which is funny the stripper hit very hard compared to the Dino. Got to see a Pro in action, and had good weather to boot. Sorry the other guys well victim to the bad water conditions report,I can see that I'll have to work out this Dino death roll thing, I keep tention on the line the whole time just like it was a Salmon just so the fish couldn't spit the hook out, well maybe next time  :smt001

Almost forgot to mention I also got to try my new reel out (Shimano Torium 16 ) SWEEEET !!! nicest reel I have ever owned

thanks guys had a great time   :smt006                   Gowen  out.

like Sean had mentioned earlier...Buck's was nice and calm (with a slight rain shower that only lasted for a short time)...and the debris was not bad at all.

right after Erik battled his dino into submission (and released it)....Owen hooked up with a nice sturgeon and played tug-of-war for a few minutes before losing the beast. I saw it surface about 10 feet from where I was anchored. Out of 10 kayak anglers, 3 hooked up (James,Owen & Erik) - the best score I've seen at San Pablo Bay.
