What is the Kayak Fishing Association of Southern California (KFASC), and why are we posting here at NorCal Kayak Anglers?

The KFASC is a grassroots political advocacy group. Our motto is, "Dedicated to preserve and expand kayak fishing access." We're doing this because kayak anglers lacked a political voice. We've been fortunate to have experienced some successes on the local government level thanks to the dedication of our supporters. Our website is www.kayakfishingassociationsocal.org.

Every recreational angler in the state should be concerned with the Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA). The MLPA is state law that will result in the creation of a network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) aka reserves along the California coast. Central California will be the first to get new MPAs.

Although SoCal is in our name, we have a few members in Central Cal and make regular trips to kayak fish up north. We are working with Coastside Fishing Club, and the Recreational Fishing Alliance and United Anglers of Southern California to a lesser extent to do what we can to protect our critical launch sites from closure.

We'd like to invite members of this message board to work with us. We encourage you to get involved by attending MLPA meetings, and by cementing ties between kayakers and the larger more influential recreational fishing groups. We need your help so we can be effective in protecting access for all kayak anglers. More information will be posted on follow-ups to this message.

Bill, thanks for the welcome to NorCal Kayak Anglers.

Feel free to contact us anytime via PM on this board, or by email: [email protected].
